Ok, maybe its me but whatever I do I cannot get my RAW images into the Elements 5 organiser! I am sure I am missing something but what?
I went to Adobe and downloaded 4.5 (twice actually). I can get the images in canon's own software but want to edit them in Elements 5. Is that possible at all? I'm sure it is but just cannot seem to work it out.
I feel such an inadequate dunce. Grrrr

My question to you is what did you download?
If you did download the Adobe Camera Raw 4.5 then you must read this:
This comes from the Adobe Download Page:
The Camera Raw 4.5 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS3, versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 4.01 for Macintosh or Photoshop Elements 5.0 for Windows®, or versions of Adobe Premiere Elements earlier than 3.0.

So this download can be used by Elements 5 for windows but not CS2.......... Thats odd......... Unless Elements 5 is actually newer then CS2?

It will work if it is properly installed according to the instructions on the Adobe web site. What did you do with this Adobe file after you downloaded it?
Also, you may need to try un-installing the Canon software. Sometimes OEM interferes with Adobe software.

Aha. Thats the problem. I just have it on my desktop. But do I have to do something else?

I think you have to read and follow the instructions on the Adobe website from which you downloaded the file.

You have to move the plug-in to the following location on your main drive:
\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-ins\File Formats
(if you have a different version of Elements, put it in that folder)
Why Adobe doesn't make an installer - or a Read Me file that clearly explains where ACR goes - is for minds greater (and smarter) than mine. :)
