There are many things I am sure I could do with elements, but I feel like I don't know anything. Can anyone recommend a great book that makes it simple to know all the things you could do? The manual they give you with the software really doesn't help me. Thank you :)
For example, I've attached a photo and I want to make certain works a different color. Now I could paint over the black but there must be an easier way right? I'd love to have a book that tells me everything.

Hi, welcome aboard! The manual below will.
Photoshop Elements ... : The Missing Manual, by Barbara Brundage.
Another excellent one, full of how-to-do's: The Photoshop Elements ... Book for Digital Photographers, by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski.

Hey thanks Sepiana. I'll definitely look into those both. I feel so lost every time I try to use elements! :)

I agree with Sepiana about the two books she mentioned. I've read Scott Kelby's book from cover to cover and really enjoyed it. The Missing Manual is a great resource book that has most of your answers if you know the terms to look up. I have recently purchased Maximum Performance by Mark Galer and enjoy working the tutorials he provides. David Asch and Steve Caplin's book How To Cheat in Photoshop Elements 6 is also very good.
I really think the best resource to learning to work PSE is this forum. Not everyone knows all the answers but collectively, the membership has already experienced most of the problems you will incur and are most willing to help. The tutorials are very educational and the helpful attitude of the members is outstanding.:)

Hi kutikayla,
I agree with all the above mentioned and I will add that subscribing to the newsletter is very informative and helpful. There are tons of videos and tutorials in the subscriber area. The added advantage to working the tutorials on this site is most of us have done them and when you come across something you're confused about and ask about it in the forum the people who help you know exactly what you're talking about. I was where you are 6 months ago and I can reassure you that it does get easier.
Enjoy,

If you are into scrapbooking, my favorite is "Digital & Hybrid Scrapbooking & Card-Making with Photoshop Elements" by Patty Debowski (available at her website: www.TheDigitalScrapbookTeacher.com). Plain English; humorous; lots of pictures; slick paper; lots of non-scrapping instruction too...just how to use PSE. Shar
