I need to remove the person on the far left side of this photo. what is the best way to do this? If I crop the photo part of the guys coat will still show up. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The only thing you could do would be to clone his coat back in. Because the other side of his coat is not visible you can't just select it and reverse it. What I would do is crop as close as you can to make it look good and then clone for the coat colour. You will also have to remember to take the fingers off his shoulder too! Same thing with the clone tool.

Duplicated the image, moved it to the right to get
the shoulder from the guy on the left.
Used a layer mask to erase everything on the top image except the shoulder from the guy on the left.
Don't know how important the background is,
But I replaced with a gradient and cloud brush.
( yes I know one shouldn't have something seemingly growing from someone's head ).
Added some noise to match the low res image.
Cropped.
