Recently, every time I start PSE: andfor no apparent reason, I started getting this error message:

"Application failed to start because MSVCRT10.dll not found. Re-install applications MAY fix."

When I click OK it pops up again, when I click OK again it stops popping up and PSE runs as if there had been no error message.

Actually I can live with it; I'd rather do that then go through a re-install and have my preferences changed or encounter some other unexpected results.

But why does it just go away after clicking OK? And does it effect PSE operation in ways that are not immediately apparent?

Have you installed any actions recently? If they were written for full photoshop version 7 or below you will run into that also. Removing the action will fix the problem. I've done that a couple of times and it was easy enough to just remove it.

Hmmm, lets see "Actions"; oh yes, I wanted to curl images and was told about his tool, or action. I installed http://morepunkinstuff.tripod.com/filters/Mac/mac.html

Now that I look at this again I'll bet I've installed a MAC tool.

Maybe that's what causing the problem. But how do I delete it?

How you remove it is based on which version you have. Did it use it's own install program? If not, just go back to the steps you used to install it and remove it from the folder you placed it in and then restart Elements and it should be fine.
