using the edits on one photo for multiples?

so i just figured out a great way to edit my photos using layers, masks and adjustment layers. can i save this and process multiple photos using the same edits on the picture i like? is that what an action is?

An action is recording actual steps that you take in Photoshop, like a macro in MS Word and Excel. Unfortunately, Elements cannot create actions. Perhaps you could find a friend with Photoshop who would record your steps for you and save the action for Elements.

and bring in next picture as new layer, delete or turn off first picture. Should have same settings etc, but you could also vary if you need to.
