Anyone have any thoughts on what I might be missing. I recently purchased a Canon Pixma Pro9000 and am having problems printing on custom paper sizes. I've followed the instructions for going into printer properties and setting up the custom paper size, everything looks fine on the screen, but when I hit print my image is a bit high and to the left of where it should be. My OS is Vista (in case that makes a difference.)

Thanks!

Is the photo on the same canvas size as the paper size?
If the canvas size is 4x6 and you print on custom size of 8x10 you can't control where on the sheet it will print, usually in the upper left corner on some printers.

Same canvas size. Thanks Frank. Guess I'll call Canon suport tomorrow.

April, check to be sure you have the latest driver for you printer. Ver 2.12 is the latest for your Pixma Pro 9000 w/OS Vista. Go to the Canon USA website and download latest driver if you are not up to date. My Pro 9000 operates just fine with XP Pro. When you go into page setup for the printer, you should select, Page setup>Page Size>Custom (set your page parameters here)>Page Layout>Normal Size Printing and then click Okay, only after you have all your settings selected under the Main Tab. I have always been able to center image on sheet this way. So it sounds like maybe your driver is not up to date at this stage of the discussion. By the way, if you have any intention of using this same layout in the future, select the Profiles tab and save your current settings by clicking on the "Add to Profiles" button at the bottom, give this profile setting a name and it will always be there at a click of the button within the Profiles section. Hope this helps.

By the way, I am the proud owner of a Pro 9000, sits inbetween, my Epson Pro 4880 and my Epson Stylus R2400. Is a great printer, sturdy workhorse, Glossy prints are spectacular. Print many of my proof sets and proof sheets on this printer for my clients. I use my Epson stable for my fine work.

Hi,
I am printing out a Christmas card on a custom sized 6.25x9" high cardstock. I had the image place exactly where I wanted and printed out 4 cards.

I had to interrupt the printing to do an errand so I left Photoshop 7 and everything open. The project files were left open and nothing was changed. When I came back I just went to print some more cards and the image printed up and to the left on the next cards even though the image is placed correctly when viewed on the monitor. I went into into the setup and checked that the custom size was still set up.

What happened? I don't think it could be a driver issue since the first 4 cards printed correctly. No matter what I seem to do the image prints higher and to the left of where it appears placed on the page. Thanks in advance for your help.

All the best,
Ted Sudol

Ted, did you check to see whether the positioning was still the same?
You can elect to align left, right and center vertical or center horizontal.
Also, if I read you correctly did you happen to turn the paper the wrong way?

While you are learning the correct procedures -

Turn on print preview - so you won't waste any more paper.

If the print preview shows misplacement - cancel the print job.

Trust your print preview - if it looks off - it will print off.
