I have designed my own business cards in Elements 5 and wanted to print them onto the Avery smooth edge cards so I would not have to cut them all apart. I have tried to no avail to get them to line up properly. What am I doing wrong??
I attempted to insert the card's image into the designated template in my word processor, but they had to be sized down to fit the spaces, and would not fill up the outlined areas without cutting off some of the end - could not move them over to the left edge. Then I scanned the practice sheet that came with the cards into Elements and dragged a copy of the card into each slot sizing to fit. When I try to print as one image on letter size it will not center in the page - leaving too much space at the bottom throwing off all of the card placement. Tried printing as photo package, individual prints, etc. and they end up positioned horizontally on the page with about 5" left at the bottom.
I have read the other threads, but can't seem to locate the templates after I have downloaded them from the Avery or Adobe share sites!! I can see them on my desktop, but can't find them in Elements.
ANY SUGGESTIONS???!! :confused::mad:
Thanks!

I may be wrong, but it sounds like the border margins of the printer might be interfering. I had this same problem awhile back and found that if I printed as a boderless photo, it kept the borders i put into my document and it came out fine. there are other variations your dealing with so this simple fix may not apply to you, but I thought it was worth posting because it worked for me.

Hey, thanks, I will try that - I was trying to decide if it should be borderless or photo with white borders (that are the options on my small printer).
I will let you know - thanks again!

One can also download (free) an Avery wizard compatible with WORD. This allows insertion of graphic from file, and text, then print.

I have used this and really like it. I create my card in PSE5, then use this software (http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Templates-%26-Software) download the one on the far right ....Avery Design Pro ( it is free). You can use it to create your card also; it is from Avery and very user friendly. Find the business card stock you are using. In the package of Avery business there is usually a sheet for practice so that you can be sure everything is lined up. Help files are good also.

I've also used Avery, MS publisher and an old program called MS picture it Publishing to print business cards. All much easier to use because they have all the Avery business card size templates.

I have downloaded and used the Avery templates, but they do not seem to line up properly regardless of what I try. Yes, the package does have a sample practice sheet that I have ran through my printer several times, and also scanned it into Elements and placed the card's image in the outlined boxes.
Today is the first chance I have had to get back on them, so I will try your suggestions and see if there maybe some little thing that I am not doing exactly right.
Thanks to all!

You state: "also scanned it into Elements and placed the card's image in the outlined boxes."
After preparing the card (picture + text) in Elements, suggest that you save the file. Then, use the Avery software to select the appropriate template for the paper at hand, and import the file. The aspect ratio of the file may not coincide precisely with that of the template, and an adjustment will be required. However, the full sheet of cards, once prepared, can be printed with precise alignment.
I have an older card program from Broderbund, and that also incorporates several Avery business cards among the selections. Again, the same drill applies as in the Avery software.

Yes, first I tried the correct Avery template that was built into my word processor - No luck! Then I went to the Avery site and downloaded the template for the correct product - That was no better. I tried the printer properties adjustments to no avail.
Then, Vesta I finally went to the download you directed me to within the Avery site and it worked GREAT!! I only had to open my organizer, select the image, right click to copy and paste into the Avery Design Pro template and it lined up beautifully. Didn't fuss with printer properties or any other adjustments, let it do it's own thing.
I would recommend this one to anybody who wants a simple, accurate program to print business cards, and it has many other templates as well. Thanks agian to all!
