Raffy,

It was an unintended pun . My brain is numb from trying out Border Breakout again and I didn't catch it. The photo was shot while we waited for sunset. :)

Great shot Eva .... and a fun idea Raffy. I should have plenty of time to think about my shot until the sun comes out again in Portland.

Hi,Jazzfisher,
Really cool! The way the late sun catches the ripples in the sand is beautiful, and makes for a striking effect!Lovely!

Sherry,

That is a stunning image. The sun has to be at the right angle for the two of us to cast tall shadows.

Eva -

I understand. I'm a (former) cheesehead too. I spent college years (and a few of the vague surrounding years) in Madison. Loved the isthmus. My mom still lives in West Allis. Beautiful spot you found ... up near the Apostle Islands?

The upside of Portland's rain is that you don't have to shovel it.

Bill,

We were at Little Girl's Point, 15 miles north of Ironwood Michigan, da UP. The Apostle Islands can be seen from Powers Bluff on a clear day. My sister in law lives in Glendale. There hasn't been enough snow here the last 5 years to bother waxing for. Bill, we live on the isthmus on E Mifflin, known as the Other Mifflin. BTW, the block party in May is not the same as it used to be.

Small world. Probably best about the block party though. Sounds like the haloween party may have picked up where the block party left off.

Bill,

The Halloween party has gotten dangerous the last few years. The Willy Street Co-op is going strong in fairly new digs. It's still two seasons here, winter and construction.

Hi Alice,

Thank you for the nice comments. Three furry friends! That could be, hm-m-m, a caucus of kitties.

Regards,
Shelly

I'm enjoying the work of all who have submitted -- if I knew how to create a shadow I could photoshop it, what with going to work early and staying until dark I don't get much opportunity to capture a shadow. Maybe this weekend I'll catch one.

Wow!!!I didn't get a chance to check the forum until today, and what a lovely surprise I got!
Billz, you did a great job with that filtered frame!
Pauline-yours is neat,too,but I'm a little curious about the left-hand shadow-looks kinda spooky!
Kevq-I'm a little tempted to say something looks fishy, but I won't!Nice contrast between the real and the "unreal"!
Kayser-That was a clever idea! One transitory effect on top of another!

Oh.oh!I'm starting to use big words-time to sign off, before I get carried away!

Thanks everyone!Hope there will be more!

Alice that left hand shadow just looks spooky to you because your a cat person. We won't hold it against you.

Man,it's pretty bad when I don't know a dog's shadow when I see it!A thousand pardons!(I probably am hanging around with the kitties too much!)We used to have doggies when I was a lot younger-a Newfoundland named Robin, and a westie named Angus. They were the best! When we lost Angus to old age,we decided to stick to cats,as they are a lot easier to care for,but I still love dogs! Our neighbour has a golden lab-a beauty.Have I redeemed myself yet?

:D Alice, had you just not said anything you would have been okay. I thought you were just pulling my leg because you are a cat person. I tried my best to get him positioned in a shot where you could tell he was a dog /wolf/ fox. :o He's used to the camera being pointed at him, not posing for the camera to be pointed the opposite way. He was also not on lead, so it was a matter of finding a nice enough shadow area and hoping for a little co-operation. I've never taken shadow pictures before (well not intentionally anyway)

Well,Pauline,if there is any way that I can put my foot in my mouth,I'm sure to find it!I didn't mean to let the cat-or dog-out of the bag.It is still a very good picture.Shadows are fun to play with, and they always stick with you (unless you're Peter Pan).Oh,well-power to the puppies!
