Hi all -
Do I understand that photo assignment #10 is the end of the road for our weekly assignments??
I've really had a lot of fun with this (thanks Will!!) and hope there is interest in having it go on. Anyone else?? I'd even be happy to post the assignments on a weekly basis to give Will a break.
Thoughts??

I thoroughly enjoyed the project also - thanks Will!!!!
I think Wendy is planning on some Christmas card ideas which it would be fun to share. With my large family I will be knee deep in projects for them until Christmas. They have come to expect hand made gifts and I really kick into high gear about now.
Bill your offer is wonderful and if others are too busy at this time of the year maybe it would be a great way to kick off 2006! :)

Will...Thank you for the effort you put into this project. It was fun.
Bill...I would like to continue as long as I don't have to do much beyond basic editing. I've hit a flat spot on the learning curve and am going nowhere fast.

I'm disappointed too that it's ending because I just got started. Hopefully after the holidays someone will get it up and running again. Thanks Will for your time and efforts. It was really fun to see how everyone interpreted the assigments.

Well it was fun doing the assignments. Coming up with a subject that everyone could do was the challenge -- because you can't do snow for people in Florida or even considering Australia and New Zealand both of which have forum members -- their seasons are the opposite of ours. So it was fun and the original plan was to run a series of assignments for a period of time.
I have no problems with Bill doing a series -- though I was thinking on the next set of photo assignments doing something more with photoshopping the pictures.
The original reason was to get people back to their cameras and it turned into a wonderful experience.
I'll be hosting team scrapbook assignments -- so check out the Scrapbooking Forum for some fun ideas on using PSE creatively...

A couple people have mentioned waiting until after the various holidays. January 1 is a Sunday, what do those interested think about starting off 2006 with a ten week series of assignments?? If that's agreeable, we'll do it.
I'm in Pacific time zone which is GMT -8, so I can post late night Saturdays here and it can be available in the UK and west Sunday mornings.
If you have topic suggestions please let me know .... either post them or PM me. I'd also like to know how much photoshopping you'd like to see allowed. I was thinking of encouraging editing on some of the assignments, and not on others.
Thanks again to Will for getting us off to a great start! I'm looking forward to round 2.

Everyone here is really creative - and this is a forum for photoshop elements which is designed to help us be creative - so why not do a mix on the first assignment. How about everyone create a ficticious ad or product package from a photo they have taken of food or an object(I say as I'm munching on cheez crackers) This should be fun for all. By the way - can't touch the rest of those nuts I was eating earlier after seeing Carols "Bug Nut."..

Photoshoped or not, I think getting us up out of our LazyBoys and taking pictures should still be the focus.
Mind you, I'm pretty easy and it's your baby now, so no moaning from me, whatever route you decide to go. :D

Nancy-sorry about the Bug Nut  , but in some areas of the world people eat the bug without the nut  !
I like your idea of an ad-that'd be fun. Also Bill, maybe a mix of assignments would be a good idea.
Thanks for continuing this-the night class I teach ends in December so I'll have more time after the first of the year. :D

Carol,
Yeah - I've seen that on TV. That's why I'm staying right where I'm at. Prefer my nuts wrapped in chocolate chip cookies or brownies.

Or, Nancy, how about a movie poster -- and you have to have an image of YOURSELF in the poster somewhere? Just a thought. I think someone else brought this up months ago, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Could be fun. (Sorry I don't remember who brought it up, so I could give credit).

Wow does that sound fun!!!! Bill how about that one? I was thinking of some kind of self-portrait but wouldn't that be fun if the poster was the basis for the self portrait. Since this would be a project with a little more effort Bill perhaps it could be an assignment that would start soon but not be due until after the first of the year. Great idea Linda.

Nancy, part of the problem with giving a long deadline is that people just plain forget. When you have a week to do it, you do it. If you miss out then you move on. When we were working on the scrap book page, Will ended up having to give a time limit because it was just taking too long, and people loose interest. This way your forced to do it and not procrastinate.
Whatever is decided, I'm game. Well except the movie poster of myself! I take horrible pictures!

Thanks for all the comments ... lots of great ideas are coming out. The movie poster might be a bit ambitious to complete in a week, but it's worth considering and sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Maybe that would be a good one to do separately from the photography assignments.
Keep on generating ideas.

As to the taking of bad pictures of self -- relax you have PSE and it can make you look different....

 I thought of that Will. Today's assignment is going to be working with a couple of pictures I took of my daughter on the weekend.
Now do I use the nice one where she is looking down or the one where she is kind of scowling at me?

Jodi, I didn't do the 'wall' picture assignment! Almost everything on my walls are my paintings. Don't want to look like I'm showing off. There are a couple of other paintings but they are framed in glass and I know I couldn't get those pictures without reflections!

Hi all -
Just a reminder that the photo assignments will restart on January 1 for a 10 week stretch. Here's what you can expect.
•Assignments will usually be posted for you to get on Sunday mornings. (The first assignment will be posted one day early as new year’s eve may provide you with good theme related material.) You’ll have until the following Sunday to take your photo and post your entry. Please post your entry in the assignment thread and your comments in the associated comments thread.
•Some of the themes will be specific, others a little more vague. This is primarily a photography exercise, but by popular request photoshopping will be welcome on your images. Be creative.
•Photos should be taken during the week of the assignment. However, for those traveling over the next few weeks, I’ll tell you now that one of the late assignments will be location related. For that week you’ll be able to use photos taken anytime in 2006.
•Save your entries. The final week will be a collage exercise.
Thanks for your topic and other suggestions. I hope we will have some fun with these and become a little more comfortable with our cameras as well as our photoshop skills. Everyone is invited ... please join in!

Linda,
I suggested this a while ago as an idea for the PET challenges, but it wasn't taken up...:( :(.

Oh, Mike, I'm glad you spoke up. I knew I'd read it somewhere, but couldn't locate the old post. I think your idea would be so fun for a PET challenge. Anyone out there listening? ;)

Why don't I include it in the list of assignments, that would sure be an easy thing to do. Is a week to work on it enough time??

I would love to join in and start using my camera so I'm happy to hear it will be mostly photography. Are newcomers welcome?

Tawana and Pat -
Great ... glad you're interested!
Newcomers are not only welcome, they're wanted, invited and strongly encouraged to join in. You don't even need to be a subscriber (although there are a million good reasons to subscribe.) It's really a lot of fun when there are lots of people involved. Tell your friends!
