Is there a way to remove power wires from a photo? I took the attached photo today during a very nasty storm in new jersey, but would like to remove the wires from the photo.
Thanks

krm,
Are you a subscriber over at www.photoshopelementsuser.com (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com)? cos there's a video by Dave Cross there called Wire Removal (12th May 2006).

Why not leave the wires in. They help give perspective to the scene.
If you still want to remove them use the clone stamp. I deleted some or the wire as an example.
When using the clone stamp use a small brush size (about7) and take samples often, so you are constantly sampling an area close to what your replacing.

I agree with Frank to leave the wires in for another reason. If you remove the wires, then the pole will look strange being there without the wires. Then to remove the pole will require more work to try cloning in the area of the house that is behind the pole.
That is a GREAT photograph of lightning! That is a picture I have always wanted to be able to take but have never (yet) succeeded.

Thanks for the advise, and after looking at the photo for a while I agree with you about leaving the wires in for prospective. Getting this was just luck.

I agree that the wires detract, but instead of removing the wires, try recomposing the photo. Using the rule of thirds as a guide, reposition the focus point and add a vignette. Bonus --- with the crop, some wires are removed. I think this helps.

If I were going to remove wires I'd remove the pole as well...
I used the lasso tool to make feathered selections then pasted back in to a new layer and moved over the wires and polls where I could. Then blend the edges if needed with a healing brush. Where that was not practical I used the clone tool and separate layers.
