I was just over at Grants Tools to download his zipped package again, as I had misplaced it. Imagine how happy I was to see a new page with a matrix, showing what actions work in what version, as well as detailed instructions on where to put what files, using Elements 6.

Free or not (and they ARE free), I love these tools - at least four of them that I can't wait to install - and they seem at least as useful if not more so than the Hidden Power set that are also free, but with annoying pop ups to publicize the book and author. (Not that he doesn't have the right to do so!)

Pass it on.

Hi Jim ...

Must admit that I have been a Grants Tools addict since he first did them way back in PSE2 days :)

... and I'm still using them today

Good evening.....I'm having problems installing Grants Tools. I followed the directions but they don't show up on the effects pallet. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated.

Thanks,
Bob

I'm sorry. Yes, I'm using PSE6 on Windows XP. I did follow the instructions in the readme file. When I started PSE it did take a minute or two to recreate the Mediadatabase.db3 file. It just doesn't show Grants Tools in the effects pallet. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated.

Thanks,
Bob

I'm new to the site - am really impressed with all the information available - almost too much! I downloaded Grant's Tools for PE6 and read the install me instructions, but cannot find the folders mentioned. I am a MAC user - I went to the Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0 but do not have Photo Creations\Photo Effects only one folder - PRESETS
so I'm a bit confused... can anyone help me?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike ...

Sounds like you are not in the right library ... its the very top level library at your system level.

Wendy :)

Thanks Wendy - I did not realize there were more than one 'set of libraries'... anyway I found the correct one in the Macintoch HD. Now I have some new 'tools' to play with.

Thanks again

Mike:D

I have the same problem. I put the files in the right folder, but they don't show up.

Hi ...

Just make sure that you have both sets of items in the correct place and the try deleting the Mediadatabase.db3 file again ..

Grant's tool should then show up in the Effects Palette under the Photo Effects section :)

I thought I was supposed to rename it adding OLD to the filename. I'll try again when I get home. :)

Hi ...

Renaming it old just fools Elements into thinking the file is no longer there ... once it has rebuilt you can then trash the OLD file.

I have to admit that rather than rename it I usually just trash it :o
