Can't Replicate Pasting a Photo on a Mask

Dave Cross has an interesting tutorial based on a discussion by Will Presley. It called "Mask Paste" and it appeared here as a video on September 23, 2005. In the tutorial Dave pastes anoher picture on to an adjustment layer mask (which he has clipped to an image). I would love to be able to do it...but I can't replicate the feat!!! When I try this I simply create another separate layer (above the adjustment layer) with the image it it! Any magic in what Dave is doing???:confused:

I don't know about magic but I think having done a select all and copy on the image you want you then need to Alt-Click on the layer mask and then paste. Alt-Click puts the mask in the image window - which you can then paste into. Before you paste it will probably just look like a big white nothing ;)

I followed along with this video and it worked for me using PSE 6. Sorry. I know that's not the answer you wanted. It is kind of interesting and would probably make cool papers for scrapbooking. Thanks for bring to my attention.
