marquee tool

For the life of my over the weekend I couldn't figure out how to rotate the marquee tool once I got the size I wanted. When I did get it to rotate it was also moving the subject inside of the shape. I am wanting to rotate the shape by itself so I can have it at an angle not just straight up and down or side to side. All help will be appreciated.

Hi Don,

If you have Grant's or Graffi'sTools, you should have an action called "Transform Selection" that will allow you to rotate or move your selection.

Otherwise, there is a workaround. Create a blank layer above the layer your selection is on. On that blank layer, fill the selection with a color and deselect. Now Ctrl-click on the filled color area and use the Move to to rotate or move the selected area, commit with the checkmark.

Now delete the colored fill layer and you'll be left with the selection on your original layer.

Thanks Diana, I will use the later since I don't have Grants tools. I knew that had to be a way just couldn't get my old brain to kick in.
