I have Jodi's Missing Styles on elements 4 but when I purchased and installed Elements six--- no missing styles. I tried to download them again for pse 6 but no go. Is there a way to get them for pse6? I am using a Mac 10-4-11. Billandcat

Hi Bill ...

They do work in PSE6 ... just place the .asl files here (Mac):

System>Lib>Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0>Locale> en-US or your own locale>Photo Creations>Layer Styles.

Then restart Elements and they should appear under show all ...


... if they don't then rename the Mediadatabase.db3 to MediadatabaseOLD.db3 (it is located at Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\ en-US) and restart Elements ... the Mediadatabase.db3 will rebuild but you may have to wait a while for it to do so

but if you want them to show up in their own category rather than under show all then you need to make xml files for them.

Thanks Wendy. I have printed your instructions so that somebody can help me with them. I am really dumb about computers and I am a slow learner. Not a very good excuse, I know. But thanks again, I am sure it will work when I figure it out. BillandCat

Wendy- thanks again. I am not being facetious when I say I need help.I WILL learn though. First I have to learn what the asi files and the the other info you so kindly gave me are. I will get it but it takes time. Then, if I need to, I'll learn how to send a pm. I know I can find that in the f.a.q. Along while ago I posted a pic of me after following your tut. on hollow figures. The top of my head was removed to show why I was a slow learner. BillandCat

Hi Bill ...

... OK then an .asl file is a layer style file (and .asl is just the file ending)

To send a pm to me just click on my name at the top of any of my messages ... and a menu will drop down. Just choose Send a private message to Wendy from that menu :)

I loved your Hollow Images pic ... you did it so well :)
