OK I've recently upgraded my Keyboard (MS Bluetooth Entertainment KB 7000) and Firefox (up to V3)
Now PSE is constantly crashing (again!)
I thought it was because I was using FontFrenzy while it was open, so restored all the fonts to no avail.
I also reinstalled PSE.
Anything else I can try. I don't want to reinstall my PC again! That's what fixed it last time. Help!
Thanks in advance!

Maybe you can use the restore point feature of Windows to see if you can get it to a state where it starts working again. You won't lose any data but you may have to reinstall/update any programs you've installed recently.

Having issues with JRE on internet explorer so I've updated that. Might try the System restore if it still crashes.
Do you think it could be something to do with Avast Virus Scanner?

Hi ...
I did a quick search on this and others seem to be having similar problems ... I found a thread on the Adobe forum that may help you :)

You could try Adobe’s don’t-have-a-clue troubleshooting steps, which include recreating preferences and reinstalling with anti-virus and other services temporarily disabled:
XP: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402520 (http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402520)
Vista: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402603 (http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402603)
You don’t say whether it is the Editor or the Organizer crashing. If it is the Organizer, try File > Catalog > Repair.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm on Win XP Pro. Just rolled back my system got rid of the bt keyboard and mouse for testing purposes, uninstalled Avast virus scanner and am running in 'simplified mode' eg no start up programs.
Organiser was running fine.
Now I've installed Windows SP 3 and Organiser isn't working.
I can still use the editor and will report back if it is still crashing in simplified mode.

My bet is on the bluetooth being the problem. Try uninstalling and running with the USB keyboard. I had similar issues with a MS bluetooth mouse.

Thanks for the suggestion though

OK now elements Editor is working fine - I deleted the catalog and created a new one now when I try to import my photos it gets some done and then says Import failed. Any suggestions?

Can you narrow this down to a single file that fails to import? What is the exact error message?

It appears random, one was a jpg with a space in the file name going to see if that is the problem (eg spaces in file names)
The Exact Error msg is Import Failed (not very helpful) in the black PSE style msgbox

If you try to re-import the problem photo, do you get the error message again, or does the re-import succeed?

yes it does import - trying 1 folder at a time to see if that helps

I've come accross lots of issues with files that aren't corrupted but won't import. Does anyone have any suggestions? Help!

Perhaps you could post a couple of them on www.pixentral.com (http://www.pixentral.com) (free) and others of us can look at them and see if we can import them into our configturations.

Just a thought here, have you tried going to the Editor Menu>Edit>File Association? Just wondering if your preferences reset to default. Your various file types may not be selected. Just a thought. Also, are you running XP or Vista Platform?

I copied that file into the exact same path on my machine, and my PSE 6 imported it without problem. That suggests the problem is with your PSE 6 configuration or machine, not the particular files.

I'm using XP and will check the file assoc. Any thoughts on what the config problem may be??

No idea what the problem might be. My only suggestion is to work through Adobe's don't-have-a-clue troubleshooting documented posted above.
