How do I use patterns in PSE6 I've installed them in the folder but not sure how to get to them!
Also, I installed my shapes was per Wendy's instructions but since my reinstall of PSE even though they are still there in the correct directory I can't get to them on the flyout menu
Thanks in advance

One way to access the patterns, is to select Edit, Preset Manager, then change from brushes to patterns in the drop down menu. You can then opt to load, save etc patterns. It may be that you need to load yours.
To use them, select Layer, New Fill Layer, Pattern, then select from the drop down menu. Or you can use the Effects palette, choose Layer Styles, Patterns. There may be other ways to use them, I don't use patterns much myself.

For shapes, I just loaded some myself and don't see them when I have All Elements Shapes selected. I have to actually open the set I want to use by clicking on the double arrow.
I don't know if this is how it is supposed to work, whether it is a bug (because All Elements Shapes should really show all of them) or whether I've somehow set this up wrong.
Perhaps someone else can comment on this?

Hi ...
There are several ways to use patterns ... try this one (as Maz said) :
Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern (now that one gives you a scaleable pattern)
or
Make a selection and then use the paint bucket (set to pattern) to fill it :)

Hi Maz ...
All Shapes seems to work in a different way in PSE6 and I haven't investigated how to add things to it.
.. but if you explore around the Library>Application Support etc ... you will find a second place to install the .csh files and there are also xml file in there for the shapes too.
Hope that helps :)}

In PSE6 Windows as Wendy says there are two different places that custom shape files need to be added for them to work in all the places shapes appear (including the Cookie Cutter). Also there are xml files. Not sure what goes with what and never got round to figuring it out because Graffi did and I got his Add-O-Matic which makes it real easy (just drop the shape or other add-in file on it and it puts everything in the right places).
Even then though I don't believe added shapes will show up in All Elements Shapes and they didn't either in previous versions. All Elements Shapes means just the ones that came with Elements. Probably just as well because if the list had all shapes including ones you've added it could be a problem with duplicate names etc etc.

Thanks guys - that helps with the patterns - it seems odd that show all shows all for effect pallette but it work differently for the Shapes!
