I took this great photo of a huge round window in the side of a building. I did not notice the huge splash on one side of the window until I started editing (how anyone managed throw something liquid like up that high I'll never know, but it is NYC.) Anyway I tried using both the cloning and spot healing tool but it just doesn't look right. Maybe I am using those tools incorrectly. Any advise on how to remove this type of blemish.
Thanks,

Cate,
Your question is one best pondered while looking at the actual image... there are too many possibilities to work from just imagination.
If you post a link to your image, it will be helpful.

Hi Tina,
I took the photo off of my website until I can fix it. I didn't want someone to buy it and then see the splotch. I will upload the photo to this thread tonight.
What type of error message were you getting?
Thanks,
Welcome Cate

Byron,
The photo is attached. The blotch is in the upper left corner of the circle.

The image is a bit small, the blotch is hardly visible (must have been a bird)...
Nevertheless, the Clone Stamp is your friend here. Finish up with just some light painting.

This website will not allow the image to be any bigger. Very frustrating. But the splash is definitely not a bird or if it was it was a whopper of a bird. It a huge splash and if someone were to purchase this as a print it would clearly be visible. I tried the clone stamp but have never used the painting. Any advise on how to use this tool?
Thanks,

Using a soft brush, sample a color close to the area you want to cover (ALT click) and paint on a new layer at fairly low opacity (30% in this case).

Although the image is small I was also able to remove the stain.
I agree with the technique that Juergen but would also suggest varying the blend mode. The stain is lighter than the background so a Darken blend mode helps. The problem is not the stain as it is relatively easy to remove the problem is to retain the magnificent reflections.
Use small soft brushes at low opacity and varying the blend mode will do the trick but to do it right it will take a bit of fiddling. Be aware this is not a one step correction. To do the job properly you will need to change brushes and sampling areas often.

Thanks guys. I will work on this and pay more attention at what I'm looking at through the view finder in the future. LOL.:o
