Be Creative Week #36

This week we’re going to try another variation on an arty look

http://tutorialmatic.com/tutorials/photoshop/photo-pop-art.html (http://tutorialmatic.com/tutorials/photoshop/photo-pop-art.html)

As usual it's best to do your ‘general’ edits (levels, hue/sat, shadow/highlights, crop etc) before you start the tut so that you are starting out with your best version of the image.
As usual tweak the settings as you go.

Please try it out, have fun, and as always I look forward to seeing your images.
:D

Thanks Lisa for another very interesting challenge. I tried four, and narrowed these two down as the better results.

Lisa,

Thanks for another interesting technique. Here are my contributions:

#36-1 - Followed the tutorial and added a frame style (Jodi Frye's The Missing Styles cd)

#36-2 - Omitted the Overlay blending mode; used Soft Light instead of Hard Light.

This style reminds me of an artist named Michael Joseph who used to do painting of street scenes in Boston. Very effective and it works great with people.

Not sure this church on the shores of Lake Erie is the best subject for this effect but it was the first I tried. Going to have to try it on some more pics. Thanks again Lisa.

Maybe I should stay off the computer at night when I'm sleepy because this is the second time I have posted a reply with my new creation and the next day, discover it isn't in the thread. However, this time I have 2 images in my gallery of the same creation.

Here's one...the original photo was a little dark, so I ended up lightening the 2 lower layers and using the Soft Light filter instead of overlay.

Kerry,

I took the liberty of reposting your image so that you have a clickable thumbnail. The way to do it is to copy the second url below your Pixentral image (the one marked Forums)
