My wife and I had the good fortune to drop in on Grant and Doreen Dixon on our vacation swing through Nova Scotia. Grant hosted the original Elements Challenge for over five years and is now enjoying a well deserved retirement near Mahone Bay, NS. We got a tour of the local sites and some of Grant's famous cooking as well -- appropriate since the 200+ year old house that they beautifully remodeled was recently a 'bistro'. He has a couple of graphics & photography projects going and is enjoying life out of the rat race (and looking good, too).

That's wonderful news about Grant! He deserves it after all the hard work he put into teaching and hosting the Challenges. And just look at that face! What a cutie! Thanks for the update, Bob!

What a handsome man. To me he has that wholesome, 'I can trust you' look about him.

How swell- Somewhere here Grant mentioned your visit- In fact I think it was an invite ;) I still find it amazing what connections are formed through a shared interest and the many ways we humans touch each other.

A while back Bob sent me an email asking about all the hot spots in Nova Scotia and I mentioned The Bistro. Having known Bob for over five years through the Challenges, I hoped he would have had enough time to visit! Bob arrived with his wonderful wife Natalie and their magnificent Springer Spaniel Harry. Bob was just as I expected: soft spoken, gentle, and highly intelligent. Natalie is a wonderfully refined lady with a delightful sense of humour. Harry … what can I say? I wanted to dognap him and keep him for myself  . We spent two wonderful days together, travelling from fogbound beaches to craggy cliffs taking pictures and seeing the sights. While not on the road we were eating and talking, and talking and eating. When Bob, Natalie, and Harry moved on it was with mixed emotions. I was so happy to have met them and so sad that the time was short.
