I followed Nancy Marti's tutorial in V4-3 but my globes are kind of flat.
What am I missing?
Any one have any ideas?

This is one I created in my gallery following that same tut recently.

If you log in the Subscriber section go to EXTRAS then down to Vol.4#3 & the last one "A moment in time" & click on it. You will get a globe.zip file to download. After you extract & open it the PSD for the globe, Jodi's Clear Bevel Styles to install to use on the globe & cloud brushes. If you haven't done this , this is probably your problem not applying those bevels that are included.
If you are not a subscriber I would strongly advise you to pay the subscription because it so much worth the money.
Hope this helps,
Christell

Thanks Christell, I do have the bevels. I changed the orientation from top to the left side.
I followed the patches of sun light on the grass. I used the # 10 bevel per tutorial.
I think maybe because I don't have the hands holding the globe
it does not look like it is round. Changing the orientation should not make a difference.
I think!? I could not see what could be the cause of the flatness.
I followed the tutorial exactly.
Thanks for helping.
I really like the globe in your gallery.
A teenager in a bubble! Yeah, that's a good place for them.
Thanks again!

What a fantastic globe! That is very creative.

They do look a little flat but adding the clouds in may help. If I could see how you did them I might be able to spot the problem. If you want to send me your file I'll take a look. Send me a PM and I'll send you the info for sending it.

I played a little with one and the clouds would make a difference but here is my try (Top right) but it makes it a little more transparent which might be what you want instead of such a solid look. Nancy and Christell will be the ones to help you as theirs turned out nicely.

Thank you Christell, Nancy and Vesta.....
I can see C-L-E-A-R-ly now where I went wrong.
Vesta, you are absolutely right.
Bubbles by deffinition are CLEAR.
I created ROCK bubbles - and they don't float.
I was fascinated by the streaks of sunlight on the grass
and wanted to capture them.
Nancy, thanks so much for offering to look at my file.
I had trouble putting the colored layer behind the edges and flattened everything:eek::eek:.
Moving the bevel and putting a dropshadow on the disks(?) didn't help.
Moral - follow the tutorial and don't wander off on your own.
Thanks all!! I appreciate your help.

That is so cool. Where can I find the tutorial? I saw Wendy has a mini tutorial for globes. Is it the same procedure? I couldn't find the bevels you referred to in the subscribor's downloads.

Hi Mary Ellen.
Nancy's tutorial is in Volume 4 edition 3 of the Newsletter.
The download is in the Extra Section V4-3.
It's the couple looking at the globe in their prom clothes.
I know, I strayed a long way from the original.:D
You can buy back editions of the Newsletter in PDF format.
It's a really good tutorial.
Thanks Nancy!!!!!

Thanks. I see why I missed it. You can't see them holding a globe in the thumbnail. This morning I printed the instructions for installing this stuff. Looks like I need to give it a whirl. I'm off to buy that issue.

I hope you get it sorted out & please post it when you have completed it. I am working on another one & will post in my gallery when finished.
Good luck,
Christell
