Upgrade Elements 5.0 to 6.0 Organizer ?

Just upgraded to Elements 6.0. When importing my photos that I had tagged and organized in 5.0 - by people, places, abulms etc... - they did not appear in 6.0. Can someone tell me how to maintain that information?

You should not reimport your photos. You need to convert your v5 catalog to v6.

Make sure your v5 catalog is in good shape by doing a File>Catalog>Recover followed by a Reconnect all missing files and a second File>Catalog>Recover.

Then, from v6, File>Catalog>Open browse to your old catalog to open/convert it.

I am pretty sure there is an Adobe tech doc that details moving from 5 to 6. You should look for it.

The point is that tags, categories, creations, collections, etc. are stored in the catalog file. Some, but not all, can be written to the image files with the file>write tags command. If you do that some of that info will come when you import the files but what you need to do to keep everything is to convert the catalog.
