Hello all,

This is my first post in the forum. I would really like to see the Fade Brush tool added to the next version of Elements. It allows adjustment of the opacity and a few other options to the most recent brush stroke on a layer. It takes some of the guess work out of selecting brush options before painting and having to undo and redo the brush work if the first guess was wrong. It is available in the full version of Photoshop in the Edit menu. It is very useful for selectively lightening and darkening different areas on a layer.

Hi ...

The only thing that this does is it allows you to change the opacity of the brush stroke and change the blend mode.

As a workaround ... if you apply your brush strokes on a new layer in Elements then you can lower the opacity of that layer and change the blend mode too :)

Hi Wendy,

I have read many of your messages on the forum and they are all extremely helpful. Thanks for all your contributions.

That workaround is good, but it means creating a lot of separate layers. I realize that these can be merged into one layer when the final result is achieved. The Fade Brush command saves a bit of time and complexity in the working file. It seems like this would be an easy feature to include in a new version. Meanwhile, I have been using your workaround.

Thanks again,
WMD

Hi ...

I'm sure that this really would be easy for them to include in Elements but I think its another one of those features that they are reserving for the full version of photoshop.

... but we can always hope :)
