I have a linear gradient layer. It seems no matter what I do the gradient always cuts through the center of the image. I can change the angle of the gradient and do a number of other things but I have not figured out how to pull the gradient off to one side of the image instead of right down the dead center of it.
Any ideas?

Here's a couple things to try.
Start dragging farther in from the edge of the image. Or start from the edge but end the drag before reaching the other edge.
Also, you can edit a gradient by clicking on the Edit button on the options bar. In the Presets dialog, in the lower part of the window, you'll see the gradient bar. Click at the top of the bar to add another slider, then slide it one way or another to get more of one color and less of the other.

Hope this works for you.

I'm not quite clear. Are you using the Gradient Tool or are you creating a Gradient Layer?

Sorry for the confusion. I have created a gradient layer.

I do not use Gradient Layers. So I don't have that answer. I suggest to use the Gradient Tool on a new, blank layer. If you draw the line on it, you can draw it at any angle, at any length or in any direction.

Thanks for your help.
I used Diana's suggestion Using htat slider bar I was albe to move the gradient to one side.
However, I found myself having to create a new gradient template to make the change on the image. It seems to have worked.
