Does anyone know whether there is a step and repeat in Photoshop CS2?
Step and repeat allows one to repeat an item a number of times equally spaced, rather than selecting and copying the item holding done the option key.

Nothing to do with Photoshop Express but you can do what I think you want in CS2 using Ctrl-Alt-Shift-T (Cmd-Opt-Shft-T). That duplicates the selection. layer or path and replays the last transformation.

Tony, thanks for your reply. I created a small black circle and while still selected tried your suggestion, but nothing happened. The circle remained where it was and a duplicate wasn't generated. The layers palette remained with only the background layer.
Have you tried Ctrl-Alt-Shift-T (Cmd-Opt-Shft-T)?
Do you have any other suggestions?

Frank: Try this. Make a small black circle and deselect it. Now Ctrl-Alt-T and move it and hit enter to comit it. You should now have two layers one with the original and one with the moved circle. Now Ctrl-Alt-Shft-T and you'll get another new layer with the circle moved again by the step you moved it originally. Keep hitting Ctrl-Alt-Shft-T and it will keep on going.

Tony, I tried and tried, but like the little engine that could I couldn't.
One of these days real soon I'll tackle it again.
Thanks for the help.

Tony, Diana messaged me with 2 links which look like what I was looking for. They are both for Photoshop.
I'm going to check them and yours out tonight.
Thanks for your time and effort.

Frank,
Here are a couple of articles about doing what you describe in Photoshop. I see Tony has already referred to one of these sources.

I tried it in Elements and the Alt+Shift+Ctrl+T command doesn't automatically duplicate and transform the selected pixels. Must be a Photoshop only command.
Too bad it doesn't work in Elements, it sounds like it would be a great time-saving method to make duplicate patterns.

Diana - I had the same thought about Elements but the shortcut doesn't work and an action created in Photoshop doesn't seem to work either. Pity :( - still thinking about a way to do it as I'm sure there must be a sneaky way.
