Album page is too big for my monitor

Any tips on fitting the album page on my monitor better? I can't get all the way down to the next button to continue a project. :wink:

You need to check what you have your monitor resolution set at as Adobe Elements's minimum requirement is 1,024x768 monitor resolution.

If your monitor is set lower than this you will get what you are describe.

Let me add to what Wendy said that if Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements were well designed, they would work with monitors set at 800 x 600. No program should dictate the resolution at which a user keeps his monitor set.

I am trying both programs right now and I am finding a certain amount of arrogance in the way they are designed -- just like Microsoft, Adobe's attitude seems to be "do it our way, not your way".

Grant, I already have Paint Shop Pro. I think it is a great program, but Element's noise-reduction filter works better than PSP's texture-preserving smooth feature. I photograph beads against a plain background. After changing color balance, lightening, sharpening and resizing, there is grain in the picture. Element's filter does a better job of removing the grain without removing the texture from the beads. My dilemma is that Paint Shop Pro's interface is better, but Elements has one or two filters I really want.

twl845, you are wrong about what you said. Raising your resolution makes everything on your screen look smaller. I have a fairly new 17" monitor which has an excellent picture. Things are just the size I want them to be when the resolution is set at 800 x 600. At 1024 x 768, things on the screen are just too small, and that includes pictures. It is harder to see the details of pictures at the higher resolution. I shouldn't have to upgrade to a 19" monitor just so Adobe can put ridiculously large dialogue boxes in their programs.

Caleb, I think the problem is that Adobe decided to cram too much on the screen in PSE 3. I believe in 'less is more', and prefer a screen with only a minimal number of toolbars and palettes. Alas, the new palette bins and crammed to the max toolbars in PSE 3 make for clutter and a tough screen to read at 1024x768. Oh, well, we take the bad with the good...

I too have the latest versions of both Elements and PSP. I think both are excellent products, althought I favour Elements. I haven't found a great deal of difference between in their noise reduction filters. Of course this may be a factor of degeneration of eyesight due to my age :shock:

When you make alterations to a photo, noise is introduced. By the time I finish fixing up my pictures for the web, their is visible grain in them. I have found that Elements' noise-removal tool is almost miraculous at smoothing out the noisy shadows and backgrounds of my pictures without removing texture from the beads (I am a bead merchant). PSP, which I love, doesn't do as well. More texture is removed from the beads than I consider to be acceptable. Elements' noise-removal tool is just better designed.

Also, their Lighten Shadows filter works really well.

I have decided to buy Elements even though it is more frustrating to work in than PSP. I just have to have that noise-removal tool. Among my customers I am renowned for my excellent pictures, and I really want to make them perfect.

One possibility is that I could do all my photos in PSP and then pull them into PE for that one filter.

Another thing I hate about Elements is that there aren't any calibrations on those sliders in the Quick Fix mode. God, I hate that.

Purebeads, I know what you mean about the picture getting smaller. That's how it was on my old Windows 98 computer. I had to go to display and resize some things. However, I just bought a new Dell computer with a 17" flat screen configured at 1024x768 and nothing is smaller. It is sharper than 800x600 though.
