View Full Version : Want to Resize Images and Do a Donna Layout

Hi, there. I'm kinda frustrated with PSE6 right now. I just purchased Donna Downey's latest book...Designing Layouts (for traditional scrapbooking), but I thought I could mimic her layouts in PSE6. All I want to do is resize my photos to various sizes, say 2x3, 1.5x1.5 like Donna does. But PSE refuses to "hold" my custom sizes once I pour the images into my background "paper" layer. What gives? Please help. I've been up all night trying to figure this out. It's 3:30 a.m., and boy, I cannot afford to lose any more beauty sleep.
Thanks, y'all.

Hi Bonnie ...
... and welcome to the Village :)
My guess is that the resolution of your paper and the resolution of the photo you are adding are different ... is the photo getting larger ??
If easy enough to fix ... add the photo to the paper and then just select the move tool. Click on the photo and a box will appear around it (its called the bounding box), move you cursor near the corner of the box and it will change to a straight line with an arrow on the end. When if does just drag inwards to make the photo smaller or our to make it larger ...
That should adjust it OK for you :)

Thanks for your help. I'll try your techn. I'd done that earlier, but the problem was I couldn't tell exactly what size the resized image actually was. I think there must be a set of rulers or something that I can get to show up in my Editor so I can resize (with the move tool) my image to the exact size that Donna's suggests.
And thanks for the other thread. I think the techn there is "clipping" which I've read about but have never tried. That'd oughta work, too. I'll try it.
This is the coolest resource online re: PSE I have ever found. Wow!:)

Yes Bonnie-in PSE6 look to the toolbar at the top, click View>Rulers. I understand that as a beginner it's really helpful to have a guiding resource, but don't forget to do what you like too...every scrapbooker has a style that is pretty unique...do what you like, and like what you do:)
Just my two cents:D

Thanks for the help, ladies. It worked! I was just overthinking the whole thing. Once I found out how to turn on the grids and rulers options, I was then able to resize my images to exact sizes I need. I just love the simple linear look, so the grid thing works well for me. I am new, so please allow me time to learn to create my gallery. You'll see my first ever digital scrapbook page. ;)
