View Full Version : Crop Challenge #53

Mary Lou tagged me this week so here's a couple of pictures taken at Portmeirion in North Wales. Very photogenic spot but as it's built on the cliffs overlooking an estuary it's hard to keep the camera level so perspective is a problem. The first is a particular problem with perspective. The second is not bad for perspective but a bit too symettrical I think.
See what you can do with them.
If anyone has an image they'd like to have cropped next week please send a PM.

Perspective is not a strong point of mine, so of course I had to give the first image a shot. Any suggestions on perspective corrections would be very welcome:) In the meantime, this is the best I could do.

Tony, thanks for the images. Here I am, as always trying something new. My 1st participation in this challenge. The older I get, the gutsier I get!

My crops were not "postable"!! Not sure why I had so much trouble with this one. :(

Mary Lou - I found them a challenge too when I originally took them which is why I picked them :). I was planning to leave the challenge up for another week as no one has volunteered the next image so you have lots more time :). Nice job from those who have already cropped!
With with EZ Challenge now running maybe it's time to take a break from the crop challenge. They are quite similar challenges. Thoughts anyone??

Tony,
I'm too new a member to really know the concept behind these challenges. As similar as the EZ and Crop Challenges may be, yet I see enough difference to warrant keeping both of them alive. Maybe a redefinition of the Crop Challenge "parameters" would help further its difference.

Just a little thought. What if the 'rules' get changed just a bit. Maybe change it to cropping only, no other embellishments besides framing/edging and changing colour. That way it doesn't become too similar to the EZ challenge, and we can focus just on enhancement with crop.

Maybe a clearer definition of crop i.e. changing pic size only or adding to pic etc. I like this challenge even though I had a difficult time with this one and after many attempts and lots of time put in I decided not to post in this one. I have noticed the drop off in participation the last few weeks and tried to figure out if it was vacations or summer activities or lack of interest. Maybe it would be a good idea to see who is interested in continuing this challenge or if anyone has any ideas for changes. I would still like to see something continue here.

Toni, you read my thoughts. That's exactly what I had in mind when I said: "Maybe a redefinition of the Crop Challenge "parameters" would help further its difference."

Obviously by my post I agree with Toni and Sepiana. Any ideas to redefine the challenge parameters?

I guess, by lack of participation, the Crop Challenge thread will be going on vacation for a while. Anybody have any suggestions for keeping it going?

I like the idea of the crop challenge being limited to cropping, with the only embellishments being things like framing or adjusting the pixel colours/brightness. In other words what can you do with the pixels available in one image to make an appealing picture without moving the pixels around or replacing them with new ones as goes on in the EZ Challenge.
Maybe we should have a poll (if I could remember how to do it) or maybe someone will step up to the plate and get it organized again. Volunteers anywhere??
