Been working on a page on one computer, transferred it to laptop via local network, worked on it all day at work, transferred it back to desktop and I get this message "Could not complete the request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop" They are the same!(PSE6) and when I went back to the laptop to open it there the exact same message comes up. Tried to open in PSE 4 and same thing. Tried in PSCS and the same thing. It's a .psd file and its only 65M. If the file is bad I'll scream!!!

Coppercurls, it sounds like the file has been corrupted somewhere along the way...do you not have an older version from an earlier editing session on one of the PCs? Maybe in the Recycle Bin.

When you say you "transfered it..via a local area network" did you "Copy" or "Move" the file perhaps leaving a version behind, or just put it in an accessible folder and read it across the network from another PC?

One last thing...you didn't rename the file along the way and change the PSD extension did you? I know it sounds silly but without the PSD extension, an otherwise perfect file will not load and will cause PSE to throw that type of error.

I sincerely hope that (or something similarly easy to fix) is the problem. I have been there and lost hours of work. It is no fun.

My earlier version from yesterday had just been trashed on the desktopMac so I could move the current one in from the laptop. Since I never empty my trash (it was so full).. I did. So all I have is 2 bad files on both macs.
Didn't rename, just saved like usual. I mayhave closed my laptop without closing the file tho.

Hi Roxi ...

Just check a couple of things ...

Do you have more than one . in the file name??
What is the file ending .. (.psd, .tiff etc)

Sometimes overtyping the file ending will sort it out .. but if that fails then try Graphic Converter:

http://www.lemkesoft.com/xd/public/content/index._c2lkPWdjLWVu_.html

Sometimes that will open files that nothing else will :)

PS ... and if all that fails then send me a pm and I will see what I can do :)
