RAW file Question

I use PSE 5/Camera Raw. When I try to open a RAW file on my laptop, I get a message that says it cannot be opened because it is the wrong type of file. However, the same file opens on my desktop. Is there some setting on laptop that I need to change? The icon for RAW files on laptop looks like a piece of paper with the top right corner folded with an xp window in the middle. I think the RAW file icon on my desktop has a picture of a camera on it ( I am away from my desktop right now).

What camera is the RAW file from and how are you trying to open the files? If File>Open from PSE5 works with the desktop and not the laptop then it sounds like you may have updated the Camera Raw Plug-in for the desktop and not the laptop. Check Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw and see what versions you have in the two copies of PSE5.

Yay! My hero! :D I hadn't upgraded Camera Raw on my laptop. I just did and now all is well.
