Be Creative Week #33

This week is more ‘arty’ and a little different to what we usually do ……

http://freeonlineclasses.net/photoshop-tutorials/photo-effects/modern-art/showall.html (http://freeonlineclasses.net/photoshop-tutorials/photo-effects/modern-art/showall.html)

The cut out filter is under filter> artistic.
As always tweak the numbers if necessary.

Please try it out, have fun, and as always I look forward to seeing your images. :)

I know I have used this pic for a technique before, so I will try more later :o

That was fun! I added an extra filter layer on top -- dry brush with screen mode.

I changed the blend mode to screen, and used paint daubs instead of palette knife. Thank you Lisa for all your effort on these challenges.

It took a while to find a picture that worked well with this technique. This one is my best effort after many tries.

I agree with Fish. The hardest part of this Challenge was finding the right photo. Thanks, Lisa, this was fun!

This had an interesting result. I changed the blend mode on the uppermost layer to multiply rather than overlay. Thanks, Lisa!

The effect worked pretty well on this photo, I thought. I liked the look of the Color Burn blend mode the best, though.

I played around with this one and am happy w/ the results. Before I started I ran the fractalius filter on the pic - then I followed the tuturial and used the multiply blend mode, and then instead of using the palette knife I used the plastic wrap filter. This was waaaay to much fun!

After numerous failed attempts on different images, I saw Bill's car image and decided to try an auto.
This time I had success. I followed the tutorial.
Thanks Bill (please, no flowers):D

I started where I left off last week. Pretty much followed the tutorial but the find edges was a bit weak on this image so I duplicated the layer a couple of times with the blend mode set to multiply and merged the layers before moving on. Not sure I like it but it is different ;)

Lisa,

Thanks for this "arty" tutorial. It's a lot of fun, although I had a hard time finding an image for it. I applied Filter > Stylize > Emboss, then followed the tutorial, and in the end, duplicated the background layer and changed the blend mode to Multiply.

Here is Morro Rock (http://www.elementsvillage.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=5572&c=5) where I used linear light.

Here is a bonsai (http://www.elementsvillage.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=5573) plant where I used vivid light.

The trick is to find the right image, as said before.

My submission. The title would be "Bushwacker Art". It cries out for something in the white part, but couldn't think of anything clever.

Lisa,

This is so much fun. Here's another one. I duplicated the effect of the Find Edges filter and in the end used the Darken blend mode.

I didn't find I liked the effect using the Overlay blend mode. Here's two I did, the first using Vivid Light & the second Linear Light:

This was fun, especially seeing all the individual tweaks. I gave a couple trys. The first one followed the tut, just fiddling with the opacity a little. The second one I used color burn instead of overlay after I had made all the adjustments.

I've had a hard time finding another photo that works well. The ones I tried with people just looked too wierd. This one did better but I used Hard Light instead of Overlay. All of the ones I tried looked way too light with Overlay.

Hello. My name is Shar and I'm addicted to this artistic effect! I keep thinking of photos that would suit the effect, but this will be my last submission. Really. No, I mean it. -----Anyway, this is my favorite photo of The Cat of My Heart (died 2 years ago). I like the treatment so well, I may print up a set of note cards. ----Shar http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1ZQywnsCQMc4ipZlxOBcLBgCWhfz0_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1ZQywnsCQMc4ipZlxOBcLBgCWhfz0)

I am not sure if I am doing this right. I uploaded my original to Flickr and also the manipulated file and the links are posted below:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3189/2631683450_a9f68ac13e.jpg

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3047/2630861091_bf8efb9c67_o.jpg

My image was fairly low res so when I did the one filter that used 4 pixels I had to lower it to 2 pixels and even then it made a pretty thick line.

I don't think it turned out all that great, but I wanted to try it and also try posting it.

After testing it I can see that the images show up when the links are clicked.

Better still... here is a composite of the two images for easier comparison:
