Hi,
I am new to the forum and recently purchased a Nikon D200 as well as a few lenses. I am enjoying taking pictures but need to learn how to work with my pictures afterwards.
I am going out to purchase Elements today and hope with some help I can learn how to use it correctly.

Hi Mav,

Welcome from another Ontarian. Whereabouts are you?

You've hit upon a great place to learn about Elements. Some of the best 'coaching' is to be found right here...

Hello and welcome to the Village. There are a lot of Nikon folks here to lend a hand. (I'm a Canon person myself). What kind of dog is on your avatar?

Thanks for the warm welcome folks.
Julie, I am in Brampton just NW of Toronto. Where are you in Ontario?
NMarti, the dog in my avatar is a brittany spaniel and I have 3 of them.

Hi Mav,

I hope you start a gallery and share your photos of the Toronto area. Toronto itself is certainly rich in photo opportunities. I live in Ottawa but get down your way one or two times a year for my daughter's ringette tournaments. Again, welcome!

Well I just picked up Elements 6. I have signed up for a lesson at a local place and that should get me started.
I do have quite a few pictures taken already with the new camera Julie.
Feel free to have a look if you would like. The below link is the a rodeo I was at a few weeks ago.

Thanks,

Mav.......

Hey, those are really good shots! You've got the hang of stopping the action. I love THIS (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa126/Maverick_Brittany/Erin%20Rodeo%20June7%2008/_AJC0344.jpg) shot andTHIS ONE (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa126/Maverick_Brittany/Erin%20Rodeo%20June7%2008/_AJC0173.jpg)! I don't associate rodeos with Ontario. Was the event near you?

That rodeo was just a half hour north of me in Erin.
There are actually quite a few rodeos in Ontario every year. I found out after the rodeo I took all those pictures at.
There are two different rodeo tours hitting small towns in Ontario mostly.
You can see some upcoming events at the below two links.

They are a lot of fun to attend and there was lots of opportunities for taking some fun shots. Those pictures are from my first attemp at taking pictures at a rodeo. I hope to try it again soon.

Hey Mav

Welcome,

I'm just down the street from you. Where did you sign up for lessons?

I was up in Erin golfing with my dad a few weeks ago and saw the signs for the rodeo..forgot all about it until somebody mentioned it at a bbq I was at after our highland games a week ago.

I have signed up for a lesson with Peter Gatt at School of Photography.
I had a private coaching lesson with him when I first purchased my D200 and he got me feeling more comfortable with the fuctions and when and where to use what.
I wish I could remember everything he taught me..:o
As I progress and get better I will probally go back and take more lessons as I need them.( or when I have the money to go :p )

I thought either Brittany or Welsh. I have a Welsh and she is the light of my life (next to my grandson). That is her nose sniffing around in my avatar.

Nice to have you here Maverick! And what great choices you've made: first a Canon, then this forum, now Elements... ;)
