View Full Version : PSE 3.0: Bad prints from Editor, good prints from Organizer

This topic may well have been covered at this site before, but I couldn't find it. I am using PSE 3.0 with an Epson R1800. Whenever I print a photo directly from the Organizer without opening it in Editor, the print matches the photo displayed in the Organizer pretty faithfully. However, frequently when I print a photo that has been saved from the Editor, I get very unpredictable results especially regarding brightness, contrast, and color balance. Even if I just open the photo in the Editor without making any changes whatsoever.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi there ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
Just wondered it you had calibrated your monitor recently?

Check what Colour Settings you use (Edit / Colour Settings). If you use Full Colour Management, try to set it to No Colour Management (and vice versa). I don't know the Organizer (I'm on Mac), but perhaps it uses pictures as they are, so No Colour management could be saving your day :)

Another suggestion: you may be applying the profile twice when you are printing from the editor (once in the editor and once in the driver).

aandres,
Thanks for the link. It led to http://www.steves-digicams.com/techcorner/August_2004.html. Both links have helped me greatly. I'm sure it will continue to help others for a long time.
