I've been lurking around here for several weeks now and so glad I found this nice bunch of folks! I recently received Elements 6 and am looking forward to organizing my 8000 so digital pics, then scanning the "oldies" and having them all in digital format. What a job!

I've gotten a new laptop (for my photos mainly) and imported a few thousand photos into Elements. The remaining digital photos are on an external hard drive - just waiting! Keep in mind this photo organization process is why I got the laptop and the program. Problem is, I love the creative part of photography more than the organizing part. That's what keeps getting me in trouble!

First I see this tut and think, "I've gotta do that technique" then I'll look at another great photo in someones gallery and it all goes downhill from there! I've only completed a few of the Elements projects with my photos, but gotten lots of great ideas for more. Somebody make me stop looking till I get all the photos entered! But that seems like it will take forever!

Oh yeah, my second grandson will turn 1 in a couple weeks and I must have a DVD made of his photos for his birthday celebration! Now that I've got Elements, I can't just transfer the photos to the DVD program and add the music like I did my first grandson's DVD last year. NO! I want each photo perfect and "stylized" before putting it in the DVD photo montage.

I think I'm becoming an Elementholic and I've barely gotten started! I look forward to having you all to help get me through this habit with your great advice and encouragement!

Thanks a bunch,
Terry AKA Grammy

Hi Terry

Welcome to the forum!:) I guess you've already discovered just how addictive PSE can be. I know just what you mean about wanting to get on with creating rather than organising your photos. I suggest you take the organising bit in small chunks and reward yourself with a creative project every so often!

Looking forward to seeing some of the results - if you look at the top right of this page you'll see 'How to use the forums'. If you click on it you'll find a helpful video on setting up a gallery.

Hey, thanks for the welcomes and letting me know I'm not alone in this addiction! I find that an hour (or more) soon passes and I've only been scrolling through the great photos and ideas on this forum and gallery. Nothing more accomplished other than "How'd they do that?" and "I NEED to do one like this!"

Bayla, you gave me great advice, enter small chunks of photos at a time and reward myself with a project. I'm going to listen to my first "teacher" and do just that. Today I will work on a first project. Of course, it will be of my grandson, about to turn one, to put in his DVD montage. Now, which pic do I choose and what technique. Too many decisions! I think I will take that post to the Beginner's Forum since this one is just for introductions.

Thanks for letting me join y'all and I look forward to your input and help on photos!

Hi Y'all,
Thanks for the nice welcoming! I just arrived home from our family beach vacation with lots of photos and I'm looking forward to "Elementizing" some of them. Hopefully I'll be chatting with some of you in the Beginners forum to find out how to do this stuff!
Thanks,
Terry
