Layer styles from About.com

I just downloaded several of the layer styles offered recently by About.com. Put them into 5.0/Presets/Styles, but they arent appearing under Layer Styles. Plus, after closing and reopening Elements 5.0 they did not install. What am I doing wrong. Thanks Jean

Hold the Shift key when starting Elements. HTH.. :)

Thanks, Juergen, that did load them; but now I cant find them. Shouldnt the names be listed under Layer Styles? I downloaded four of them. Jean

Sorry, Jean, I did not look close enough at the path you used. They should be in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects\layer styles

That is a hidden folder, be sure make hidden folders and files visible in Windows.

Put them there and see what happens. Hold the Shift key again.

Oh, I put them in through Program files. Will try the other route and get back with you. Jean

Actually for full effect you need to have them both places. I think the ones in Program Files are used for the Style box in the tool bar when you are using a tool like Type or Shape that lets you apply a style as you use the tool.
