importing from card reader and not adding to catalog

I use elements 3 to import my photos and create folders by date. Since I have different photos in different catalogs I would like for the card reader to not add the photos to a catalog is there a way to do this I can not find the setting to turn off automaticaly adding to catalog. Thanks

The organizer is an integrated piece of software and there isn't an option to turn off adding to catalog -- you would need to use some software other than PSE to download your files to the desired folder. Perhaps the software that came with your camera will help you achieve this goal.

Hi Joe ...

There is a preference in the Organizer that if unchecked will turn off the photo downloader. It’s under Edit>Preferences>Camera or Card Reader. You’ll see “Use Adobe Photo Downloader to get photos from the Camera or Reader”. If you uncheck it, it won’t pop up.
