Be Creative Week #32
This tut is for that bleached, washed out look which is very popular in a lot of plug-ins ….
http://www.freeonlineclasses.net/photoshop-tutorials/photo-effects/tinted-color-bleach/showall.html (http://www.freeonlineclasses.net/photoshop-tutorials/photo-effects/tinted-color-bleach/showall.html)
It is very simple to do, and I think the technique has a lot of possibilities, (but it may not suit every image, so do experiment), and do feel free to add any extras ……..
Please try it out, have fun, and as always I look forward to seeing your images. :)

Here's my take on this week's tutorial:

I finished it off with one of Blair's Borders recoloured pink to match her T-shirt.
EDIT: I've been playing some more and redid mine. This time I used 2 Hue/Sat adj. layers, the first set to 215,25,0 & Screen, the second set to 25,25,0 & Darken. I think I prefer this one:

Here is mine. I think I used this photo for a Be Creative a while back but I thought it would work well with this technique.
Thanks for another technique to play with, Lisa!

This was fun Lisa. The image was totally underexposed, two hue/saturation layers (and a surface blur to remove the noise) gave me a somewhat usable image. Thanks!

I don't have the "perfect" photo for this technique...but here's the best of the lot...

I copied the color layer, blurred it, and cut the middle out - feathered. I then dodged the "frame" layer to further distinguish between the "bleached" and the non-bleached.

I'm not sure if I'm getting this simple technique down. It doesn't seem right to me. Oh well......

Lisa,
Thanks for another interesting challenge. It's a very simple technique. Yet, I'm not sure of the results I got. Anyway, here it is. The only extra I added was a vignette.

I couldn't get on to that link today but I started with a hue/saturation layer in screen mode and set to colorize which I think was the method. I then played around with using that good bug in PSE6 which left access to the CS3 B&W adjustment layer that lets you colorize/tint like an H/S layer but also lets you adjust the individual color channels. In screen mode that lets you change which colors are kept and which ones get bleached. Anyway finished up with a combination of the two on some poppy pics I took last week.

An engagement picture from this past weekend. I used Hue/Saturation at 15/25/0 and then added a vignette (I'm digging that look lately) before I started messing with the grunge border (combo of multiple free brush sets). What an easy tut to get a very "in" look - thanks Lisa.

Thanks Lisa- I followed the tut but then I used Owsley's Purple for the hue/sat on this photo from last month's parade and caused a time warp.
