You're a couple minutes late tonight Bill. Any problems down in the Rose City?:p

Nope ... just wanted everyone to have a couple more minutes to enjoy some agricultural photography.:D (That was hilarious ... but you won't hear it from me.)

Oh that! Yes, enjoy it before it's flagged!

I thought maybe you just ran out of gas! Now i can go to bed and conjure up an idea. Thanks!

Lisa,

You beat me to it! I was going to post a similar picture! Now I've got to put my thinking cap on! And for those in the USA complaining about the price, those UK prices work out at approximately $10 per gallon so quit complaining!

Lisa - you got us off to an eye popping start!

Tony - Nice images of the working pumps (you get up early!). At US$150/bbl (that's almost $8 dollars Canadian these days) that barrel a day can come in handy. Nice presentation of shots.

...those UK prices work out at approximately $10 per gallon ...

That's one of the things I liked about this theme Bayla, it's impacting everyone. Now what shot do I take??

Yes, every one and nearly every thing is being affected.
Really creative photos here. Tony, I really like the montage you put together. And Sepiana, it certainly is an appropriate photo.

Wonderful takes already- I'd better hurry as every idea that came to me has been done and quite well. (be nice to have a backyard oil well like Tony's neighbors.)
Sorta on topic, what was the gas station in the US with a Dino logo?

Thanks Byron, some kind of challenge synergy is happening! Too bad it wasn't pink.

Seems to be a popular topic this week.

Val - Yipes .... that's expensive. Fortunately just a little bit on toast with peanut butter is all a person needs!:D The 'find edges' effect is fun.

Sepiana - Very clever! Well thought out and nicely done.

Steven - Great image. Love the compositon and perspective!

Martha - Very nice work on the vintage pump! Nicely done.

Kim - Wait! What the ??? (Sputter, sputter) How did you get in there? :p Very nice collage ... the background Texaco Skychief signs are really fun too. Great image!

We're off to a fine start this week ... keep them coming.

Bill - I sneaked the key out of your pants pocket while you were watching the game!

And the Texaco Skychief background is also one of the many tins signs on the wall. As is.... this one, Ellen and Byron!

Oh, but you knew that already, didn't you, Bill! ;)

I Googled that earlier today because I was going to "borrow" the dino for EZ challenge #5 - ended up not using it.

How small a world is THAT??:D

Sinclair, IIRC.

(Edit) wait! Jelly! I got it!!!

and I quote... "Val - Yipes .... that's expensive. Fortunately just a little bit on toast with peanut butter is all a person needs!:D "

and so I ask... "Huh???"

Bill: Thanks for the comments as usual. It wasn't too early but the dog needed a walk before it got too hot and I've been preaching to the local camera club that the best light is either early or late in the day so thought I'd better practice what I preach :) Actually the light wasn't that good but at least I tried .... And I do sometimes think about harvesting the oil under my place (the old maps show it was a working oil field in the 1860's) but when you look at all the environmental regs you have to meet these days I think I'd need $1000 a barrel before it would pay off :) . But at least in Ontario you usually own what's underneath ....

Thank you Val.

The Flintstone's were well ahead of their time on a lot of things. I love the Flintstone's.

This is a real, old, gas pump, but it was at one of those restaurants that makes cutesy displays. Since I have gone bananas over HDR this week, I could not resist trying it on this image.

This has been a fun week of images. Nicely done everyone.

Tammy - Yikes, you've got some water there! I hope the waters have receded for you and all of our friends in Iowa. As an aside, looking at your sign gives me an idea! If you scoop up a bunch of water, wait until winter when it freezes, sell it for $3 and apply the $$ to gas, you'd have a gallon of gas for net $1.15. You're right, there's probably a snag in there somewhere.

Byron - Fun image. I wasn't aware of the brand ... thank you for the link.

Clara - Wow. We all know that petroleum is used in darn near everything, but the photo really brings it home. Thanks. And your HDR image is great!

Mary Lou - Nice images. The bp logo always looks so environmentally fresh. Looks to me like you might have the same money making opportunity as Tammy. Get a bunch of jars, fill them with air, ... oh never mind.:o

Ellen - Thanks for promoting Portland's own Christensen Oil Co. They appear to still be in business selling "Rocket Brand" racing fuel. I love the bicycle in the foreground!

Byron - Great image. (The 'pristine' can you saw was on the Creative Community site.)

Joe - Very telling image. You really do some nice HDR stuff, I enjoy seeing it.

Nice images all ... and still time for others to play!:)

As always, thanks for taking the time to comment on everyone's images, Bill. You always say the nicest things!

On another note, I am curious as to what your sacrifice was to lay before the great oil gods! Hmmmm?

I am loving the HDR look of your's, Joe's, and Bamagirl's photos!

Steven, it doesn't look like you play very nice with your tools! I can almost picture you tossing the weed eater high into the air and into the ocean! **dink!**

Byron - You owning a "Stinker" cap? Yeah, that sounds about right!

I must beg to differ....the BW is very striking.

And kudos for standing in the rain to capture this! You can borrow my umbrella next time if you like...;)

Thanks, for the kind words.:o

I have just felt very unimaginative lately. That one was close to the feel that I wanted, just not exactly what I was after.

I thought it was great Gary. I thought Tony got up early for this week's theme and it looks like you got to stay out late. Sleep patterns are being messed with right and left!

Hey Bill,
Hopefully you don't have a patent on your idea - might try it, you know, anything for a buck....:)
