is your input. Also please don't forget he Photo Challenge as

So ...

How is everybody doing with there Challenge images ...

Ummm an interesting one this one!!

Now for anyone who hasn't yet taken part in the Challenge ... please do join in. Its fun and its a great way to learn ... the whole idea of the Challenge is that you are challenging yourself to do something with an image ... so you are not competing against anyone else.

People of all different levels take part ... from people who have been using it for years to others who have just started.

Do join in ... its fun but beware ... its addictive !!

Look forward to seeing some of your images :)

Sorry I didn't get round to commenting on the images last week ... but I just ran out of time :(

Well ... I didn't get a chance to do comments on last weeks images so I thought I would make an early start on this weeks :)

This is your chance to ask how people did things .. the feedback on Challenge entries is posted on more than one forum so people may answer my questions elsewhere ... but if any of you wants to know how to do something ... please do ask and I will pass on any messages. It really is a great way to learn ...

Alex ... Two really fun animations ... love them both !! and No 3 and 4 have such a great texture and look to them .. how did you get that effect?

Ben ... Your No 1 is just so cute ... well done! ... and good work with No 2

Bob ... Just how did you do that?? ... it is so good.

Byron ... Oh my goodness ... how he has grown. Nice work on it :)

Chris ... Really nice effect in there and a lot of techniques !!

Cliff ... Very nicely done. It looks like they are deep in conversation. and wow what stunning colours ... How did you do that?

Dave ... Oh very good use of the image. I like the photograph too ... wonderful colours.

Jeurgen ... Very clever. I kept looking at this detail and wondering what I could do with it ... just wish I had thought of that :)

KtNoon ... Great montage of frogs and nice work on ours.

Marilyn ... Now that is an excellent paint job ... just looks like he is about to pounce :) and I do like No 2 ... it should be in a fairytale book :) ... where did you get that beautiful castle from?

Mary Lou ... What a nice gentle feel you image has to it ... nice work.

Pauline ... Nice work on the lighting and colours ... looks good! How did you do it??

Richard ... Makes a great story ... well put together!

Rita ... Oh that is nice ... how did you get that sort of pixelated colour effect?? It looks really good ... and how well you have put it into a mosaic in No 2

Shelly ... Oh that is so different ... great colours you have put into it and well blended into the water.

Tawana ... Oh those colours are so good. I would love to know how you did that??

Thomas ... Good work on the Black & White ... its a good image to do this with !!

Tony ... Nice work on adding "his friend" ... :)

Ward ... Ah the great musician !!. Nice theme and very well done. Great effects you have in No 2 and 3 but No 1 just has to be my favourite of the three :)

 Wendy I was afraid you might ask!! I know I played around a bit. I used filter>render>lighting effects and then used two lighting types. One was spot light and the other up in the sky was blue Omni. I played around with the settings a bit until I got it the way I wanted. It was actually very interesting to do, and I like the effects that it had on the picture.

Wendy

Pauline ...

Oh I know the feeling :)

Sometimes experimenting with different things makes an images look soigood ... but you just can't remember exactly what you did :)

Wendy

Pauline
November 6th, 2005, 12:45 PM
  Not only that, but the particular settings might be fine for one picture and not for another, which is really why I like to know what a particular tool is capable of!! Following someones recommended settings while using the exact same photo is fine, but it never gives you the same results when using another one! Which is why we need to know HOW & WHY!

Wendy, loved your second entry where it looks like pictures stacked on top of each other. It has such dimention and turned out great!

@ Wendy.
Thanks wendy!!! What I did was to make a selection of the frog and other green stuff around it and put it on its own layer. Then I reselected the frog on the orginal layer and inverted the selection. Then I used a hue adjustment layer and changed the saturation on the background, but I also changed it from normal to difference on the adjustement layer. I then made a selection on the frog and green and applied a gradient to it, with the setting at color.

I know it sound convoluted but that is basically what I did! I'm am on my way to work and just wanted to get this in. I always look forward to what you have to say about everyone's entries.

Thanks Wendy

Just thought I would take another look at the Challenge and see what ne entries have been added ..

Aaron ... Great set of images, very imaginative. I especially like the last one

Bob ... Just seen your No 2 , 3 & 4. I live the frog on the egg :) and the rare cast iron frog. How did you get the frog so realistic in No 2 .. Great work on both of them!! ... but No 4 is something else. Its amazing ... I haven't stopped laughing yet :)

Chris ... nIce work on 2, 3 & 4. How did you get that transparent look in No 2(I'm sure I have asked before but I have forgotten :( )

Cliff ... Two more nice ones ... I especially like the spider on. Good work on the distortion!

Danielle ... now that is an usual interpretation of the image. Well done

Flar .. Oh that is good. Beautiful work on masking out the layers ... it is so effective.

Gary ... Love the theme .. excellent choice and really well done. Good work on the tadpoles :)

Gerald ... Now I think I can see a find edges in there, glowing edges?? ... but just how did you do it???

Jim ... Oh ... not sure who is scaring who on that one ... well blended into the new image

Judy ... good work ... the images really look as if they belong together.

KtNoo ... No 2 is great, wonderful colours and a brilliant fairy. How did you do all of that??

Larry ... Nice idea and well done inserting it into the original image.

Lisa .. Nice work. Looks very realistic you have made a great job of doing it !!

Michael ... Well put together .. it could tell a story all of its own :)

Nancy ... Now that is an unusual wedding cake top. They just look as though they are kissing ! ... Nice idea

Robin ... Lovely rendition of the fairy tale. You have put some really nice touches in there ... very well done!!. No 2 is so different I would really like to know how you did that surface. Its brilliant ... and a very funny rendition :)

Tab .. Hopping Angels what a fun image!! Nicely thought out and well put together.

Tawana ... Fun one with your No 2!!. Nice little touch using a faded frog background.

Tom ... Boy is that some leap!! .. good work on it. How did you do the jump effect??

Well this picture sure did spark a lot of interest. I never did get my third one done. I just didn't have time to get the pictures I needed to do it. I was going to have my daughter standing with her hand out looking like she was kissing the frog in her hand and morph the frog's head into her boyfriends. Would have been funny but the week has been busy and I didn't get the shots I needed. Some great enteries though.

Hi Pauline ...

Looks like I missed your second one .. sorry about that :(

You have made a good job of inserting the frog into the new scene. The images you have moved it to has an almost dreamy quality to it ... it suits the frog. Nicely done!!

 Wendy I'm afraid that was my lazy attempt! All I did was cut him out and put him on a photo I took this fall in Algonquin Park. Sadly nothing fancy or creative there!

Thanks, Wendy.

I'm still in awe of everyone's interpretation of each weekly photo. It's amazing to see creativity in such a broad variety of individuals.

I Love the challenges!

Yes Jo. The more people the better. It's great fun to see everyone's ideas that are stemmed from the same image. Half the fun is seeing the finished product that everyone ends up with.
