Downloading Photos

I've successfully downloaded photos in the past but today I opened PSE5, clicked on Get Photos>From Camera or Card Reader. All that showed up for 'Devices' is my printer/scanner--no cameras. I'm stuck! SJLaRue

A process of elimination will find the problem here.

- Try a different USB port
- Try a different connector cord (you could also try that cord on another device and see if that device is recognized.)
- Try a different memory card in the camera
- Its possible the port on the camera may have gone bad. This happened to my daughter with one of hers. She then had to get a card reader to download her pictures. The camera worked fine otherwise.

- and the obvious.....make sure the camera is turned on! :D (I'm in tech support and just had to throw that in there!)

Thanks, Gene. I've got your list of things to try and will get back to you when I've done so. Please don't go away for the weekend as I've tried two different cameras and am having trouble with both. Does Elements sometimes go wonky? sjlarue

OK--The weekend already went by and here is is already Wednesday (gasp!). I have systematically gone through the items on your suggested list and found that the USB splitter I was using was defunct. So, I COULD download my photos using the USB port on my computer with one of my cameras.

The other camera, another brand, still is not working but this might be something totally different. I'm still trying with this one as it has pictures of our house BEFORE some renovation (Plus vacation shots...).

Hi...sorry for not getting back to you on this sooner. I don't spend as much time on the forum as I used to and this must have slipped through when I checked the newest posts. Have you worked everything out yet?
