I pasted a large image into the canvas, and it appeared in the center. When I try to move it to the top to make room for a similar image beneath it, I get this error message: "Could not complete the Move command because the result would be too large."
The canvas is sized to 30,000 by 20,000 pixels. The large image is 27,056 by 10,163 pixels.
Do I need a larger canvas? If so, how much larger?
Do I need a smaller image? If so, how much smaller?

Hi
Both of your images are extremely large. The canvas, at 30,000 pixels by 20,000 pixels would have dimensions of 416 inches x 277 inches at 72 ppi, or 100 x 67 inches at 300 ppi (optimum for printing), which gives you a huge file size.
Adding another big file to it makes the filesize even greater. Elements probably can't handle that big of a file.
Is there some reason you need a 100 x 67 image? Are you planning on having it printed that large?
You'll probably have much better luck if you start out with a much smaller canvas, then resize or crop the photo you're adding to it to more reasonable proportions. I'd start out with the canvas the size you want your final image to be printed, at 300 ppi resolution.
I have made 24" x 36" posters including about 100 photos, all at 300 ppi, without any problems. In pixels, that poster size is 7200 x 10,800.

Glendeen,
Boy, that's some size!!!
Elements probably had palpitations when it tried to handle it!!!
