Lisa - at first I thought the nectarines were donuts (must be time for breakfast? :D)

Tony - love that picture. Is that Macinack Isl? Thanks for tips on Brightness/Contrast ... made a difference in the outcome!

Val: No that ones not Mackinac - it's another continent. Portmeirion in Wales in the UK. Great spot and very photogenic. It's where the 60's TV series "The Prisoner" was filmed and finally after many years of speculation they are supposed to be doing a remake later this year. Hope so, it was one of my all-time favorite series.

Don't know "The Prisoner" series. Was it in the US also?

My b/f did his student teaching in Wales. I'll have to ask him if he knows of Portmeirion. It's lovely!

Maybe you're not old enough :D. I think I saw it here on PBS in the late 60's

I'm old enough, but maybe wasn't old enough to be allowed to watch it? I remember my dad letting me stay up to watch "Dragnet" ... to this day, police procedurals are my favorite type of novel/movie.

Maybe you're not old enough :D. I think I saw it here on PBS in the late 60's

The images are looking great-and so different!

Bill, I like your last car better-it really looks great!

Clara, I really like the monotone. It looks very nice.

Mary Lou, yours looks very nice. Sometimes it takes a while to find an image that works well with a tutorial you want to try. Sometimes I have a picture I want to turn into a sketch or painting and it seems to take forever to find a tutorial that works well.

Tony-I love yours. Very pretty.

Kim, your vase of flowers is lovely

Tony - that is beautiful! Thanks for sharing the technique. Portmeirion is on my list of places to visit and it is probably only about 2-3 hours away. 'The Prisoner' has been shown again on tv here recently (BBC3 or 4 I think), I saw a couple of episodes.
The animals turned out well too, I thought they might be real until I clicked the full size.

Val - both those look great, personally I think this tut needs a bit 'extra' as Tony proved, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Elvis on velvet look either :D.
A box of doughnuts hey, now there's an idea ....... And as an aside where did your b/f do teacher training in Wales?

Toni - that is a very pretty view. Yes, I know what you mean about trying different images.
The blue skies image is lovely, thanks for sharing the before and after.

wlc - that looks great, lots of detail coming through.

Kirsten - welcome to Be Creative, good to have you with us. The flowers look so pretty.

Julie - a lovely shot and don't worry creative interpretation is most definitely allowed!

Bill - I could've sworn that Herbie was at the car meeting near here only a couple of weeks ago and now he's in Oregon ..... one fast mover! :D
The second image is really great, I think I prefer that one having more contrast too.

Mary Lou - lovely variations, I probably like the overlay best. Yes it is hard to find a tut that fits all images so there is usually some trial involved.

Larry - I like that very much, the shot is great and well suited to the technique.

Cape - the apples turned out great, thanks for sharing the extra steps.

Tammy - what a beautiful parrot, looks beautiful as a sketch and you've made a lovely scrap page.

Kim - beautiful flowers, yes, I wanted to reach for the find edges filter too!

Mack - that is very striking, it really looks very arty, love it.

Clara - the toning you have chosen suits the image perfectly.

Martha - the details do come out well with the sketch technique and your frame sets the image off lovely.
Your shot with people has turned out very well too, again lots of detail in the image.

Thanks everyone, your creativity is inspiring :)

Thanks Lisa! I am also really liking how some of the "people" sketches are
turning out as well. I like the pub sketch and the skateboarder sketch - both very different! This is really a fun challenge - I just might try more!

To answer your question, Jon did his student teaching in (sp??) Colwyn Bay? He has some beatiful - if 1980s grainy - photos from the area.

Great job with your knight sketch!

How did you manage to capture a knight trotting down your street? ;):D

Larry - I really like your sketch effect. The colors make it look as though it were drawn with colored pencils! Very cool!

Bayla - looks great on the skate boarding pic.

Debra - a knight in shining armour .......every girl's dream ;)

Sepiana - welcome to Be Creative, the sketches have turned out great!

wlc - an interesting shot and it shows the detail very nicely with the sketch effect.

Fish - yes, you're both right, sailing boats are perfect for this.

Seachelle - both are lovely and I really like the variation on the second picture, thanks for sharing the technique.

Hey Kim - great to have you join us :D, that looks a lovely place to stay, and the sketch effect suits it perfectly too.

Ellen - great image, Chloe looks so patient!

Larry - that one looks like crayons or pastels and has a superb 3d quality to it (it's a must see at full size), lovely colours!

thanks everyone
