Making a custom header for my blog

I've got blogger and am wanting to make my own header. Anyone know the size of the canvas I need to start with?

Does your Blog Host have a FAQ page? That might let you know.

Otherwise I suggest finding a header you like, copying it to your hard disk, then opening in PSE and checking the size dialog box.

When designing for the web it is a good idea to make your design in a printable size, then save down using save for web. Then if you decide to print it on a card or stationary you don't have to start from scratch.

Yeah, blogger has an FAQ page but doesn't give a size. They just expect you to upload a picture of your choice. I've uploaded one before but when stretched to fit the header, it's goes outside the right line. I've edited and edited it and can't seem to make it fit. I know I've read somewhere that there's a certain size to make your canvas before adding pics/text to it.

Sounds like you are uploading into some sort of wizard. You would think that they would give you basic pixel dimensions.

Check to see if the blog host has a forum. Someone there may have experienced the same problems you have.

Hi Charrie,

I have my blogspot banner sized to 647x150. Originally it was 650x150 but when inserted it didn't fit exactly into the border of the template I was using so I had to resize it a couple times. A bit of trial and error. But, I think that it might depend on the template you are using.

Earlier this year, several of us were setting up blogs and had a thread going about it.
