Problem Installing Fractalius Filter

I have managed to download Redfield's Fracalius filter but (in simple steps please!) how do I get it to appear in the filters menus of PSE 5?

Hi Sassie,

I'm not familiar with that plugin, but if it's a normal photoshop or elements plugin with an .8bf extension, just copy the unzipped file to this location (assuming you are on Windows):

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Plug-Ins

If you're not sure how to get to this location, start by double clicking on My Computer, then C: drive, then Program Files...etc., step by step until you get to the Plug-Ins folder.

Right click on the plugin file, select Copy from the menu. Go to the Plug-ins folder, right click, select Paste from the menu.

Restart Elements and then you should see the filter listed under the Filter menu.

I just went out and found the Fractalius Filter HERE (http://www.redfieldplugins.com/filterFractalius.htm) and downloaded the demo version of it. I love it - and probably will buy the full version. Thanks for mentioning it.:)

My download was an .exe file, which means you just double-click on it to run it and it automatically installs the plug-in for you, then you restart Elements.

Here are two images done with the Fractalius filter. The demo version has watermarks on the rendered image.

After seeing the neat effects of the fractalius filter I purchased it. Here is my 1st time using it. Not my usual thing, kinda erie, but I liked it. This filter does some cool stuff - will have to play with it more! Thanks for pointing it out to me!

That is real different but I like it. That filter does some really abstract things. When I get a chance, I'm going to purchase it myself.

It is addicting - isn't it?? I really like the effect on the bird pic as well-I want to try some more of the sketch effects, but will have to wait until tomorrow as well!

Mack, I love all three of the images you've created with that filter. The bird almost looks like batik art, and the rays from the clouds and the dandelion? are wonderful, too. Yes, it looks like it could very well become addictive.

I wonder if Sassy ever got hers installed.

Is it windows only? I downloaded it, but it didn't self-install on my mac. I'm hoping I just did something wrong as it looks like a lot of fun.

It is a lot of fun to play with I just hope I don't get stuck in too much of a rut though. I also feel somewhat like it is cheating for some reason. A sort of triumph of technology over talent. But then again one could say the same of photo editing in general. In any case I gotta go now just a couple more!:rolleyes:

Hi Diana! Well, I got Fractalius installed on my desktop but not on my laptop - yet. Been a bit busy of late and got distracted, so it has reminded me to give it another go!
