I have reorganized my photo files and have a couple of questions.

1) is there a way to search for duplicate photos in the catalog in batch?

2) Is there a way to search photos in the computer files that are not included in the catalog?

Thank you for your response.

1.) You can select an image and do a find by color similarity. That should bring up any duplicate of that image as well as a bunch of other images.

Viewing in date view should put images with identical dates next to each other in the photowell.

I believe that other programs have been mentioned for locating and managing duplicates. You might want to do a forum search on "duplicates"

2) Use File>Get Photos>By searching and choose your hard drive. It will add any photos on your hard drive not already in your catalog.

I recommend doing a Get Photos>From files and folders and choosing your main photo folder first. This will guarantee that the images are cataloged first from the place you intend for them to be. If can happen that a forgetten duplicate in some odd folder is imported first, then its duplicate in the expected folder will not be imported and you will end up confused in folder view as to why it is not in the folder you know it is in and refuses to import because it is already in the catalog.
