I greatly appreciate the help I have received from reading of your members' problems.

I have been using PSE5 for over a year now and have been gradually gaining in confidence.

Today I had a problem I haven't had before.

I had been working on some JPG photos I took last year in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, the exquisite town in Saxony made famous by Martin Luther: hence the modern name. The first image was easily edited and saved, and I found the original and edited versions in the Organiser.
I then moved on to another image of the same town, edited in exactly the same way, and when I come to the "save as" stage, , after the request for quality of image, I get the error message, " There was a program accessing the Organiser catalog. It may be in use by another process or a disk error occurred."

I have tried saving as PSD, TIFF and JPG but with similar lack of success, and an attempt to edit another picture has had the same result.
I have turned off the computer and started again, I have defragmented the hard disk, but still the problem remains. When I return to PSE I can pull up the edited images in "Open recenty edited file in editor", but the images still cannot be saved to the Organiser.

No other prgrams are running and I am at a loss what to do, apart of course, from sending you all this message, and requesting your help, for which I shall be most grateful.
Yours,

Tintinabulum

Hi and welcome to the forum. :)

In Organiser, run a Recover operation (menu address: File>Catalog>Recover).

That compacts and repairs your catalogue. It's a sensible thing to run occasionally anyway to keep your catalogue in good shape, but I think it will fix this problem.

Dear Nick,
Many thanks for you speedy and helpful reply.
I did what you said and one picture I had edited was immediately saved to the Organiser.
An earlier image had disappeared from the list of "Recently edited files in Editor", and as I was out for dinner last night, I didn't have time to do until this morning (I am in England).

I have just reworked that image and it has been saved without difficulty.

Many thanks for your expert advice, which was exactly what I needed.

Yours,
