I understand the purpose of frequent monitor calibration and insuring proper printing parameters to insure the best possible print. My question is "How many people do this regularly"? Your thoughts please. Thank you. Carl

I keep mine calibrated at all times. It makes a big difference in the final results.

Must admit I only do it infrequently - last time was a couple of months ago when I had to put in a new video card when the old one died. My old monitor seems pretty stable.

The book “Real World Color Management, Second Edition”, by Fraser, Murphy, and Bunting, is targeted to professionals. Here’s what it says:

How Often Should I Calibrate?

With CTR monitors, we recommend calibrating weekly. At minimum, you should calibrate monthly—some of the high-end systems like the Barco Calibrator V and the Sony Artisan are pretty insistent that you recalibrate after 30 days. We know people who calibrate their monitors every day, which seems excessive, but harmless.

With LCD monitors, the jury is still out. The dyes in LCD cells wear at a much slower rate than the phosphors in CRTs—it’s unlikely to be an issue in a human lifespan. The backlight, however, will decay slowly over time. We calibrate our LCDs weekly to be on the safe side, but you can probably get by with less-frequent calibration than with CRTs.

I have an LCD screen. Bought a Pantone Huey a couple of months ago. Got a good deal (on sale and $10 Google discount), just pain a little over $40. I calibrate once a week. It is quick and easy.

I have an LCD monitor, but have never calibrated it. I have never had a problem with my monitor. To me everything has always looked good.
Same was true with the previous CRT monitor; but at at time I never knew monitors COULD be calibrated! I did not learn that until reading about it here on this forum :)
