Mac User - Upgrade to 6.0?

Hello! I just found out that PSE came out with 6.0 for the Mac. I got 4.0 for the holidays and just started to use it and find it to be not great. Of course, I haven't taken a class at all and am trying to learn on my own. At any rate, do you think it is worth upgrading to 6.0 before continuing to play with 4.0? Thank you!

Try downloading the 30 day trial and see if it seems to be easier to play with. It certainly has a lot more fun toys. I highly recommend trying the tutorials and taking on-line classes for help with the learning curve.

I think that is what I will have to do. I feel really badly because 4.0 was a gift from my inlaws but I had no idea 6.0 was coming. Any tips on where to take on-line classes? I hope to take a local class as well. Thanks!

Are you a subscriber? There are literally hundreds of free tutorials in the subscriber section as well as inexpensive classes. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/

You will learn loads here. Being a subscriber here is wonderful. Loads of great video and written tutorials. Best way to learn!!

Sara Froelich does a great job - and she now has a Ready Set Go class for Elements 6 for Mac. If you sign up - make sure you take the Mac class

Tell us what you find to be "not great" about PSE4. Are you perhaps used to a different program? I use v2 and am happy with it.

What are you trying to do? Maybe someone with experience in both can let you know whether 6 will be better for your purposes than 4.

One nice thing about using an old version is that you can get books and cds on the cheap. Check ebay and Amazon for v4 books & cds.

I even had a user of this forum send me some old PSE2 scrapbooking how to cds for the cost of postage when she was cleaning out her library.

If you subcribe at PET you have access to all of the videos and tutorials they have ever posted which go back to v3 as well as the physical newsletters they send.

A warning: there are many posts with people complaining about the new color scheme of v6 being difficult to read. The trial version should let you know if you like that scheme.
