Grants tools.

I apologize if this question has been asked before but a search did not give me the answer. I also tried to email Grant direct but my emails were returned as undeliverable!

My question is "Where I can get installation instructions for Grants tools "Abbreviation" for PSE 6 Mac". I am using OSX 10.4.11.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I believe the instructions are included in a readme file with the download. This is what was included with mine:

MAC.

Open the actions and pngs folder and place all the items that are in it in this folder:

Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects

Next open the xml files folder and place all the items that are in it in this folder:

Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\ en-US or your own locale>Photo Creations Metadata>Photo Effects

Next rename the Mediadatabase.db3 to MediadatabaseOLD.db3 (it is located at Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\ en-US) and restart Elements ... the Mediadatabase.db3 will rebuild but you may have to wait a while for it to do so

Julie. Would you please be kind enough to confirm the following installation instruction.

I have followed the instructions 100% and for some reason I am unable to paste the files into \en-US>Photo Creations Metadata>Photo Effects. I am not permitted to do this. Photo Effects seems to be locked!

I may have made some error so I think that I should start over from the beginning and try again.

How do I uninstall PSE 6 Mac?

I think you have to have 'show hidden files' checked....or is that not a Mac thing?

I am using a Mac. Since posting earlier I uninstalled PSE6 Mac and reinstalled it. I then had another try at installing Grants Tools.

Having opened the pngs folder and selected and copied all items (20) I am not able to paste them into this folder:

Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects.

When I try and paste them into the above folder, they end up in the H/D window above Applications. The same thing happens when I try to do the xml files folder.

This is driving me crazy. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong! Instead of copying and pasting should I try dragging each item into the new folder?

OK. After playing around for a couple of hours I discovered that my problem was that for some unknown reason I was not permitted to copy and paste the contents of Grants folders into their new destination.

I simply had to drag and drop each item instead. Thanks for your input.
