Tony,

that is stunning, I love those rich tones, and thank you very much for the tip on using a levels adj layer for the tinting, I always forget that in that one you can adjust the colour channels individually. Also the ability to go back and tweak is very valuable.

Lisa :)

Wow, I love it when we get not only to do the tut, but to interpret it creatively :D

Fantastic results so far :)

They get better and better! It's great when you see people coming up with different ways of doing things. It's got me playing with few more having seen what others have tried.

I downloaded the "curves filters" but cannot find them in Elements. I placed them as per the directions below, except that I put them in ...plugins\filters. Am I missing something? How do I get them to show up inside PSE6?? When I go to ...plugins\filters I can see "smartcurves" but not inside Elements.

Directions I followed:
"Just extract the files and put them into the plugin directory of Photoshop.
something like C:\program files\adobe\Photoshop Elements\plug-ins.
After the next restart a new entry easy.Filter/SmartCurve should appear in the Filter menu."

I also notice a folder in plugins\filter called "Ligting effects" Was I supposed to put the "contents" of the Lighting Effects folder in plugins\filters ???? Not sure where it came from but it's the only "folder" in there, the rest are "plug in" icons.

The Problem Child LOL

I'm using Elements 6 and i extracted the folder to the root "plug-in" folder and not it's sub folders. I can then locate it in the bottom of my "filter" drop down labeled "easy.filter".

Hope this helps.

Wow, everyone does have such superb images this week :).

I would like to welcome Cape to Be Creative :D, good to have you with us, and stunning tones to your image.

Kim and Toni - I love those blue-ish-red tones you achieved. Toni - nice idea to add the stroke.

Bill - perfect vintage!

Joe and Val - meandering images that look great with the toning.

Pete - both are excellent results, thanks for sharing your technique too.

Clara - yes, I find that some images I can get a colour I like straightaway, and others need a lot of time. Love the image of the door.

cfair - a beautiful swan, nicely highlighted.

Seachelle - very peaceful, it looks a little like an older image.

Mary Lou - hey, I'm glad you persevered, as I love the tinted building even better than the one with the blue sky!

Fish - lovely result, I'm lead right into your image. And a lovely tropical scene.

Bayla - I like both of those very much, can't decide on a favourite. Bayla if I come across anything non-technical on curves I will let you know.

Sharon - yes, aren't curves fun! lovely images.

Tony - those are stunning orchids and wow that's a find to get the b&w adj layer for PSE6!

Martha - a very pretty country lane.

I've got to find time to try this out, they all are truly striking. Thanks Lisa once again for finding a great technique.

Bayla, this (http://www.thegoldenmean.com/technique/curves1.html) is a good read on curves but not what I'd call simple, it even has a warning at first.

Ellen,

That is a superb read on Curves - it strikes the balance between giving the technical information but in a fun way. It's by far the best thing I've ever read on the subject. Thanks!

I can't believe that in the nearly four years I've been using PSE that I have only just discovered Curves! (Curves (http://www.curves.com/) for me has always meant the exercise class I go to each day!!) I think whenever I've seen a post with it in the title, I've thought Photoshop CS2/3 and just ignored or looked for a workaround....I'm so happy to have discovered an add-on.

Thanks Lisa!

That b&W adjustment layer is amazing - I remember I was impressed when I had the CS3 Beta. It's a program bug though (a good bug not a bad bug ;)) - Adobe left the access in by mistake and so I gather that by the time the Mac version was released it got "fixed". So I'm sure it will be gone again in PSE7. Another good reason for keeping old versions around. But it does show how much power Elements has under the hood just waiting for clever people to figure out how to tap into it.

I just discovered the PSE6 action on Graffi's blog that makes the CS3 black and white adjustment layer work in PSE6. An awesome addition and a must have if you have PSE6 - all sorts of adjustments and tinting possible and amazingly leaves it as an editable adjustment layer.

Tony,

Which action on Graffi's blog?....I had a look but wasn't sure.

There's a download link just down the page. Get it while you can! Lots of things you can do with it (and not just black and white!)

Hi, Tony. Just downloaded and installed it w/Add-o-Matic, but it doesn't show up anywhere. Where's is supposed to be? In the adj. layer options in the Layers palette?
