I have recently bought Elements 6 and using this on a Mac, all was fine until an update for adobe camera raw came through and try as I might I cannot download this to the computer every time I run the update it says that The updater is unable to locate the product to be updated. I read in a magazine that you have to take one plugin out and put another in but this was for a PC and not the Mac and as I am not a computer whizz kid I am not sure how to do this. Has anyone out there come across this and perhaps have a solution for me.

Unless you shoot RAW with your camera and have a very recent camera that requires the latest Adobe Camera Raw update you don't need to update it. If that's the case just ignore the update. If you do really need it I'm sure someone with a Mac here can talk you through it.

If you go this link you can get the download and if you scroll down the page you'll find instructions on how to do it with Photoshop Elements 6 on a Mac. I don't have a Mac so don't know if these instructions are straightforward or not but the Windows ones are very simple to follow. If you have problems there are lots of Mac users here who can help.

Bailey, the latest version of ACR is downloaded form Adobe and installed manually on the Windows PC. For Elements the Camera Raw.8bi file goes in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats". Sorry I can't help with a Mac installation issue, but I thought this might help.

Bailey, i also use PSE6 on Mac. When I tried to use the updater(that automatically tells you an update is available) to install, I also got the same message. When I went to the adobe site(follow Tony's link) and got both the update and the directions, I had no problem installing following the directions. Apparently the updater can't find the spot to install in this case, because others have had this problem as well. We sure get spoiled having macs automatically put things where they belong and forget how to do ourselves.;)
